Read the on screen instructions very carefully, there will check box's that will ask if you want to keep you're files.

One very odd thing has started happening since windows 10, not sure if it's coincidence.
I completely shut down the pc, tap the key board, move the mouse, nothing, completely off; I then unplug. Next morning I plug in again and the pc just turns on again, as it being awaken from sleep mode. This only happens if I unplug, leave it plugged in everything fine.
There has been a whine from inside, tap the case and it stops; maybe it's the power unit starting to act up and it's just coincidence.

done the upgrade all files are in place took a bit of searching to get one drive back to normal now have to check and hope games still work... fingers crossed guys!!

Anyone help please,after down loading 10,my initial reaction was one of amazing,all the previous problems seem to be resolved,to day however im back being sent to pages i do not want,and the Solitaire games are not working.

I have a spare SSD I grabbed on the cheap from Amazon on Black Friday, so Win10 will be going on that as a clean install rather than as an upgrade from 7.
I've seen too many upgrades go tits up to go down that road again!

well after 3 weeks of usage i can say with hand on heart win 10 is spyware.
stay clear if you want to keep some semblance of privacy.
i have had to make changes to the registry, to the group policy and hosts file to stop it sending home. and guess what.
today i got an update that reset most of my privacy settings to on.
basically all the background apps i had set to turn off were re-enabled. NOT FUCKING COOL!.

Everything I turned off stayed off and I never had to go into reg for anything.
No problems other than the audio driver (which happened) and the restarting when plugged in.
May be you could be more specific so we can check.

use currports http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/cports.html to check what connections your making outside. just hit refresh every couple of mins.
check against this list and you will quickly see your windows is dialling out every 30 mins to 1 or more of these ip's
every time you use search even if cortana is off will also be connecting externally.
the 0.0.0.0 is me re-routing the outgoing ip to the routers dead zone. the ips and addis are the external addresses it connects to.

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
you may need to disable your av to enable you to over write the original. (i recommend you rename the original hosts.bak)
if you have 1 use a network sniffer to sniff your network while your not connected to anything running no browser. then go to search and type services (just an example)
your sniffer should start showing you outgoing connections to 1 or more of the above ip's
there are a couple of other ip's that could be blocked but if you do you wont be able to open pages like facebook.
i found 1 ip that the machine immediately connects to at boot time. its an ibm bigdata server. i blocked it and couldnt connect to facebook, every other site was fine but facebook just says cant load web page.
i removed it from the above list and facebook loaded up.
this is odd because no browser was open when the ip connected and it was the first thing windows did when the desktop opened. even before my av poped up.
it seems that its a primary ip.
