Heartbreak for Scotland against Australia at Twickenham in a topsy turvy quarter final.
Australia won 35-34 with a very late penalty for offside after a monumental effort by the Scots.
Even as an Englishman I have to say the Aussies had the key decisions go their way even to the point of use or even non use of the TMO.
Harsh on Scotland imo.

The decision at start of the 2nd half re: the 'DELIBERATE' knock on call and ensuing yellow card for Scotland was also questionable to say the least. A question I am keen to know the answer to has also just been raised on the radio i.e why did the referee scuttle off the pitch at the end without shaking the hands of both teams?
Could it be he realized he got it wrong and was too scared to man up and face it?
.This a World Cup quarter final for crying out loud.

Yes, only one win so far (IIRC), but the experience of regularly playing the 'big boys' has helped a lot, it would seem.

I didn't see a replay, so I'm not sure, but 'in real time', I thought there was a knock-on in the build up to Australia's first try?
But, yes, the final penalty was a shocker; Not for the first time, a match is (largely) decided by the actions of the referee!
(not that I'm biased, or anything!
)However, Scotland didn't do themselves any favours with some poor kicking, just gifting possession back to Austrailia - not what you want to do with a team who are, potentially, so 'deadly' in attack!
