RE: Everything 80's - GMach1 - 29-01-2019 17:00 Well I can tell you that andyjb got all 10 spot on sir, well done. No.5 yes that was a little more difficult you really had to know the tune and tagline to get it, and techinically not all were 80's Fairy Liquid been around for a long time-actress Leslie Ash was a child in one of the early adverts. Harmony hairspray again more 70's and Milky Bar Kid has been around forever but the taglines and themes hung on for years. If I find any more I will post them. RE: Everything 80's - andyjb - 29-01-2019 17:21 The trouble with adverts these days GreenMachine, is they make me turn the sound off. RE: Everything 80's - GMach1 - 29-01-2019 17:39 Not as memorable as they were once were and if they were that good, you couldn't get the tune out of your head for weeks RE: Everything 80's - andyjb - 29-01-2019 17:54 Exactly. Not a tune but... https://www.babeshows.co.uk/showthread.php?tid=76070&pid=2263334#pid2263334 RE: Everything 80's - GMach1 - 29-01-2019 17:58 One memorable one (to the tune of Men of Harlech) and this is from my head(as used as a parody on Not The Nine O'Clock News) "Dunlop, G-Plan, Revlon, Berlei, British Airways, Hotpoint, Kraft. Kelloggs, Esso, Hoover, Sony, Metal Box, Ferranti, Ford...made in Wales..." The parody was "failed in Wales" RE: Everything 80's - GMach1 - 02-02-2019 15:34 1980's probably the best programmes were on around then. As was touched on elsewhere Benny Hill was a great watch especially if you liked the hot looking girls. He certainly knew what men wanted to see(which now you wouldn't get at all) such as girls losing their skirts and being left in lingerie or bending over to show their knickers(memorable sketch with Jane Leeves(went on to Frasier as Daphne Moon) who is in an office, drops some papers whilst Benny is counting and distracts him by showing her frilly knickers, or the other quicky where they are watching a horror film and she lifts her skirt up slowly each time, then when something really horrific happens completely covers her face with it-showing off her lingerie and stockings. Over time alternative comedian Ben Elton became really 'right on' and began to parody him which I think he didn't realise until too late. As Kenny Everett has the busty Cleo Rocos, and Hot Gossip girls so Benny had Sue Upton(not that busty), his gorgeous Hills Angels and other women. The 80's were a perfect time to be a teen because there was so much sex or innuendo on mainstream television from Little and Large, Les Dawson to drama programmes with strippers and of course Top of the Pops with Pan's People/Legs & Co/Ruby Flipper/Zoo etc. |
