Another 100 stand from England's new opening pair, sadly when the milestone was reached & also Burns his half-century, he got a decent ball next up, & was out caught behind. Still a solid start, but a tight run saw Malan short of his ground, & India are back in the contest.

England just need to keep the runs ticking over (without any silly run outs), and make sure that they have sufficent wickets remaining for a last hour chase.

The loss of 4 wickets for 6 runs after lunch killed off any chance of an England win. The big wicket of Root before tea, followed by Woakes, has snuffed out any chance of playing out for a draw.
All is not lost though, as we head to sunny
Old Trafford on Friday, in the hope of leveling the series.

I always believed that a test batsman should seldom be bowled.
If they get through the 1st line of defence then it should hit the pad.

Yes these middle order collapses are worrying,the Aussies will be rubbing their hands with glee if and when some of these play against them. Too many one day shots,they need to get back to county championship games and slug it out. If India play like this again at Old Trafford rain dancing could be the order of the day
