but there is no hypocrisy in eccles example?? it was a pair of tits, shown after midnight. where is the hypocrisy, in that we can see this on the babeshows as well?

Finally the scene is really really long. No way could CC claim with any hope of success that it was artistically justified in its entirety. Not as a fantasy. A few seconds at most would be justified.

well cc show adult stand up comedians so definately not a kids channel. i'm not sure i understand your point about justification either. what do they need to justify? like i've already said, there's no inconsistency or hypocrisy here, as there's nothing in the clip that we don't see on the babeshows.

Well I'll agree with you Paul as with regards to the comedy show eccles was referring to. Yes it was indeed scheduled well after the watershed. I'll also agree with you with regards to the Comedy Central channel as it is most definitely not a kids channel.

With regards to the Irn Bru advert I posted that was shown in the middle of the afternoon so that was a justified comparison. Other examples have happened too in recent years such as a naked chef cooking on This Morning. Spencer Tunnick too and his naked states programme is another one that has been shown during the daytime aswell so perhaps that's really the areas we ought to be focussing on more.

However you could also make an exception to The Horror Channel as some of the movies they have aired many puretins would judge to be pornographic such as Bare Behind Bars so that's really where I'd raise my point with regards to hypocrisy.

Point taken, and no homophobia intended. Lets say I found the age disconnect and taking voyeuristic advantage of someone in a vulnerable position uncomfortable. Bit like Madonna and Drake. (Is agism ok?)

An occasional aside, babechannels in the media.

On a more serious note, Game Of Thrones, just how rude is it? The UK version, starting at 9pm.

Eccles, you seem to be making less and less sense on this thread. You're just randomly pointing out TV dramas and films which have nudity in them. So what? We all know that Ofcom judges standards differently between 'editorial' and advertising.

At least Scottishbloke is trying to focus on context, e.g. nudity being shown during the day on mainstream channels, whereas it's not allowed until late at night on the babe channels. And I agree with him and Paul that the Comedy Channel is definitely not a kid's channel - I've no idea where you got that from. Perhaps you could answer Paul's queries as well.

Sorry if I've missed the point you're trying to make. Huh

Ill put my hand up to one off topic post, to lighten the mood, and I find it interesting to see just how much name and format recognition the babe channels get, given than Ofcom say only 1% of the population watch them regularly, but I thought I had covered the other points. Lets try again.

The topless scene on the ComedyCentral show went on far longer than it needed to in order to establish the point. That makes it gratuitous and technically a breach of the broadcasting code. I am not about to lodge a complaint, but suspect that if someone did so Ofcom would huff and puff and find a way of not censuring the show. Possibly their favourite trick of saying it has not broken the rules and issuing a warning at the same time.

They don't show the same leniency towards babe channels, which is hypocrisy in my book.

Accepted it isn't ready a kids channel, but it certainly is a young persons channel, and much of the content is cartoon, which suggests to under 18s that it is for them. Try explaining the concept of adult cartoons to a teen whose brain is being rewired by their hormones and is up a bit later than usual because its Friday and/or there has been a party.

As for Game Of Thrones, some versions have strong sex that is not suitable for broadcast before 10pm, which is generally accepted as the point at which the postwatershed "gradual transition" ends, except for babe shows. At least one clip features a woman raising her head after a blow job with visible sperm on her lips. I might be wrong, but from memory think she then kisses someone who is unaware. If broadcast in the UK that would be streets ahead of anything babeshows are allowed to broadcast - even suggestive use of gel is banned, in case someone mistakes a large quantity being poured for ejaculation.

Thanks, got it now. Smile

Your point about Ofcom giving mainstream channels the benefit of the doubt, when coming down on the babe channels like a ton of bricks for the slightest transgression, is a good one.

People are worrying that Ofcom may take over regulation of the BBC but it's likely that they'll be even softer on the beeb than the BBC Trust, so it may be to the viewers' benefit.

Mate, I wasn't specifically talking about you with my comment, it was meant in general. There's making a harmless joke (yes, the Madonna/Drake thing is fine), then there's posting comments that are on the cusp of going too far, a few posts on the last page were in that territory. All I'm asking is that members take a little care in how they show their frustration, by choosing words that express there point in a valid way, rather than choosing to post in a derogatory fashion.

maybe eccles has a point about comedy central. they just showed a preview for russel howards standup show that included a clip from one of his guests doing a gag about fingering. he actually said fingering and then explained how his wife showed him how to do it properly and was doing quite obscene hand gestures of clit stimulation. they must have showed that by mistake???
