RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - *Kal-El* - 26-03-2018 12:04 Justice League Picked it this morning i went for the HMV Exclusive Steel Book and am glad I did. The art work on the front is great the Justice League symbol is embossed and debossed. The inside artwork is fantastic of the team and the back of the steel book also has a nice piece of artwork too, the extra bonus is the steel book has a gloss finish. Picture quality wise it’s a 1080p transfer not only do the colours look deep and rich but they pop from the screen. Am a little disappointed that they didn’t work on Henry Cavill tash it looks a little better but it could have been much better. The sound transfer is was very impressive a 5.1 DTS-HD when I ran it through my home cinema system it really enhances the film, sound track, people talking and explosions etc etc. Extras The Return of Superman Road To Justice Heart of Justice Technology of The Justice League Justice League The New Heroes Steppenwolf The Conqueror Scene Studies Suit Up: The Look of The League Plus you get a digital copy of film, it comes with two discs the 2D version of film on the first disc and the 3D version on the second disc. Also am little disappointed that they didn’t do a extended edition of the film like Batman Vs Superman especially with the amount of footage cut. Maybe one day will get another version. All in all really with it and didn’t pay the full price for it. RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - Rammyrascal - 26-03-2018 13:54 ^^ Got this HMV exclusive justice league steelbook as well this morning and agree it’s a fantastic steelbook release both interms of the steelbook itself which has fantastic artwork both on the front & back along with the inside artwork and what you get inside, 3 versions of the film (3D, 2D & a digital copy) and a good amount of extras. Only dissapointment for me is no directors cut like you got with the batman v superman steelbook. I’m assuming that a directors cut edition will be released later this year when Aquaman comes out in cinemas Now have all 5 DCEU Blu-ray steelbooks RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - *Kal-El* - 26-03-2018 14:59 ^^^ same here plus I have have animated ones too and Green Lantern from there previous attempts. RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - *Kal-El* - 02-04-2018 20:13 Star Trek Nemesis Picked this steelbook up in a sale at a really cheap price. All tho the film was a disappointment it was still a decent film. I already had the standard blu ray of this film but as it was a steelbook and part of 50th anniversary of Star Trek and again a cheap price had to pic it up You get a cool image on the front and on the back the 50th anniversary logo and the Star Trek image in the inside. The picture transfer is really good along with the sound transfer. Extras you get Commentary By/ Michael and Denise Okuda. Blu Ray Exclusives: Library Computer Star Trek OQ (BD-LIVE) Plus over 3 hours of previously released content. I do have a couple nit picks, no digital copy, would have liked to have seen a gloss finish to steel book. Plus there is a longer version of the film but the running time was cut for cinema release would have loved to have seen a directors cut version. Really happy I picked it up for only a fiver, hopeful the others drop down in price one day so I can complete my collection. RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - rpj316 - 07-04-2018 18:10 Just bought The Dark Crystal(1982)from a Tesco Direct for £15. Fantastical dark tale with amazing puppetteering from Jim Henson that still holds up today. In my view nobody has ever even tried anything like this since. All remastered for this 35th anniversary edition. Some extras are passed down from the Collector's Edition DVD but there's also a nice bundle of new stuff to enjoy. Extras : Audio commentary from artist Brian Froud Three making of documentaries Featurettes Deleted scenes Storyboard track Concept art Photo galleries RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - rpj316 - 11-04-2018 19:11 If you like underwater sci-fi/horror thrillers in the same style as DeepStar Six or The Abyss then I recommend giving Leviathan(1989)a try.I bought it from Amazon for just under £20 on a US imported disc so make sure you have the right player to view it as I've seen there's been some problems on this from the feedback left on Amazon by other buyers. It looks good with a nice 1080p transfer and there's a DTs-HD audio option that really comes to life when you crank it up. The film itself is an amalgamation of The Thing,Alien and the other two underwater films that came out in 1989,the biggest letdown is surprisingly the creature that attacks the crew.Even though it was designed and created by Stan Winston studios, its just very underwhelming but with a great cast and typically understated and excellent turn from Peter Weller,I'd give it the nod over DeepStar Six. Extras : Monster Melting(40 minute documentary in HD ) Surviving Leviathan(15 minute interview with Ernie Hudson in HD ) Dissecting Cobb(13 minute interview with Hector Elizondo in HD ) HD trailer RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - rpj316 - 15-04-2018 14:16 Although devisve in terms of fan reactions,I recommend Strar Wars : The Last Jedi(2017) Picked it up in Sainsbury's for £20. I still have my own doubts and dislikes to it but I have to give credit to writer/director Rian Johnson for at least attempting something new rather than just rely on a nostalgia trip(even if Mark Hamill hated what he did with Luke).Looks breathtakingly beautiful in 4K and loaded with some nice bonus features. Extras : Commentary Deleted scenes Documentary Featurettes RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - Rammyrascal - 18-04-2018 14:28 Suicide Squad: Hell To Pay (Steelbook) Comes in a really nice steelbook with very good artwork Get a good amount of extras and a digital copy RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - rpj316 - 22-04-2018 12:14 Picked up Wonder(2017) £10 from a local market. A really good film from Stephen Chbosky about a young boy with facial differences belatingly starting school.Rather than falling into the politically correct clichéd trap, the tone is upbeat and witty. The great acting from Jacob Tremblay outshines the strong support from Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson. Extras : Audio commentary Featurettes RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - *Kal-El* - 28-04-2018 03:23 The Transporter Refuelled I was a fan of the original trilogy and when I heard that they were rebooting it with new actor in role of Frank Martin i was little disappointed. But after watching it wasn’t as bad as I feared. The picture quality crystal clear and colours on screen look really rich along with with sound quality. The list of extras Photo Gallery Theatrical Trailer Rocketing From 0-60 Frank Martin: The Reluctantl Hero The Coeur Brise: Les Femmes of Refulled. No digital copy which is a shame, biggest bargain of all picked it up brand new £1. |
