RE: UFC - groundnpound - 06-07-2011 22:34 Thought you'd hung your gloves up for a minute there mate. Just watching 132 again, did anyone see Wanderlei Silva when he came round from being KO'd?He was so out of it he tried to fight the ref for about 10 secs lol BJ Penn on the UFC judging situation. "Get rid of the belts, get rid of the judges, first thing, right off the bat. Any fight that goes to a decision should just be an automatic draw. You get rid of the judges, get rid of the belts. The only way you can win a fight is by finishing your guy, the only way you can lose is by getting finished. You put all the guys with the most draws on the bottom of the pay scale. You put all the guys with the most wins and least losses and least draws at the top of the pay scale and you fit it down the middle accordingly. No one will want to go to decision, no one will try to fight for points because you can't win unless you finish the guy and then we really find out who the best is." A bit crazy But i like it! RE: UFC - mitchell - 07-07-2011 00:25 I've been a busy man, I was gonna post it on Sunday but my internet froze & I lost the post which I just spent 20min doing so thought fuck it I can't be arsed. Fucks BJ doing he's gonna make Jon Fitch homeless coming out with solutions like this, it's better than the five round headliner though, UFC Live 4 Nate Marquardt is pulled from the fight 24 hours before showtime so now Chieck Kongo & Pat Barry are gonna go 25min with no time for extra training having trained for a 15min round for the past 6-8 weeks, fuckin silly that!!! RE: UFC - TDK2008 - 07-07-2011 05:45 Chael Sonnen return fight will be against Brian Stann at UFC 136 in Houston this October. RE: UFC - mitchell - 07-07-2011 19:23 This still confuses me every time I see it!!! RE: UFC - groundnpound - 08-07-2011 00:38 Sonnen vs Stann looks a good fight TDK.Stann's been like a robot wrecking machine since dropping to Middleweight. On that form i can't see him not winning.Sonnen will use his wrestling and make it a tough night though. The last time Stann fought a good wrestler (Phil Davis) he lost,up at light heavy.Could be really close. Stann wins by ko or decision though for me. Ahhh the old flying scissor heel hook Mitchell... I reckon he tried for some sort of kick to the body, lost his balance and just found Silva's foot under his arm perfect for the sub. Boss though RE: UFC - mitchell - 08-07-2011 10:27 (08-07-2011 00:38 )groundnpound Wrote: Ahhh the old flying scissor heel hook Mitchell... He didn't even mean it yet still gets a tap within seconds, boss indeed. I'm not that interested in Brian Stann but I hope Sonnen gets cream cheesed!!! A prelim arena date has been set for the UFC to head back to Japan February 26, 2012. Just last week, UFC president Dana White mentioned that the UFC would be heading to Japan sooner rather than later. Now it appears the promotion has targeted a tentative date and venue. According to sources speaking to MMAWeekly.com on Sunday, UFC officials are looking at a Feb. 26, 2012, date in Japan with the show currently targeted for the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama. While the venue has been reserved by agencies working with Zuffa in Japan, this is still just the preliminary location they are focusing on for a return to Japan. Other venues and locations are being looked at, but Saitama Super Arena is currently the most likely landing spot. White predicted that the company would likely end up in Japan in 2011, although our sources are indicating the early part of 2012 is more realistic at this point. “The rumor is true, we’re going to come to Japan and probably very soon,” White said last week. UFC executive vice president Mark Fischer, who was hired in 2010 to lead Zuffa’s charge into Asia, is currently working to secure a finalized date and venue for the event. Sources have indicated that Fischer is in contact with several Japanese promoters who have put on shows there before to help smooth the way for a UFC produced card. While it’s unclear at this time whether or not Zuffa will actually work with a promoter to put on the show or not, Fischer has been in contact with at least a few as this process begins to bear fruit. The UFC’s return to Japan is literally more than a decade in the making. The promotion hasn’t traveled to the “Land of the Rising Sun” since 2000. White has spoken candidly about the problems he’s had trying to promote an event in Japan. But with the company expanding further into Asia, a region it considers a major market for the future, it’s a location they feel is a necessary part of the UFC’s global efforts. MMAWeekly.com will have more information on the UFC Japan show when it becomes available. It'll be interesting to see how many top fighters are put on this card like out in Abu Dhabi given the mass time difference. Japan 23:00 - New York 10:00 - UK 17:00 They've said a big name or title fight card in the UK will have to make way for a US audience, meaning a boxing style time of 02:00-03:00, so it will probably be the same in Japan like when the Australian card started at 14:00 (AUS). New York 21:00 - Japan 10:00 - UK 02:00 I remember getting up at 7am to watch England v Nigeria in the 2002 World Cup & it was a strange experience so god knows what the Japanese will think of a UFC event at 10am on a Sunday morning. There's also a pre arena booking for December 10, 2011 Montreal, Quebec, probably The Bell Centre, I can't see this being a title fight between GSP (If he beats Diaz) & Carlos Condit as it will only be 6 weeks after the Diaz fight so if my prediction of a GSP/Diaz v Condit fight is gonna happen then it may be as I said on New Year Day 2012??? RE: UFC - groundnpound - 08-07-2011 14:13 You think Condit will get the winner of GSP/Diaz then mate?Could be a decent shout. That division looks wide open under GSP.Rack up a couple of wins and your in the picture.Guys you'd think are miles away from a shot just now could fire themselves up the pecking order. Anthony Johnson,Rick Story,Thiago Alves,Jake Shields,Dong Hyun Kim.Even younger lads like Rory Macdonald (Top class in the making for me) and John Hathaway could get a shot after a few good wins. Old faces like Penn,Koscheck and Fitch are still right there. RE: UFC - mitchell - 09-07-2011 19:51 I doubt any of the new division fighters will be on big wages considering Strikeforce didn't pay massive sums like the UFC, I think that may change in the next year or so when the smaller divisions are more established. We've all seen how Paul Daley struggles with wrestlers & Tyron Woodley is a wrestler with his unbeaten record consisting of 5 of his 8 wins coming via submission. Nate Marquardt is a ground fighter, BBJ & wrestling with 15 sub wins so I'm thinking that Strikeforce are looking at Woodley defending the vacated title against Marquardt although Daley v Marquardt would be a good stand up fight. |
