So ,the then record transfers for the likes of Souness & Dalglish for Liverpool were affordable for all , then ?
They had the spending power , other clubs didn't .
Ditto Atkinson and Ferguson at Man U.
Even if Blackburn spent less than Man.U. one season , they still had shed loads more cash to spend than all the rest .
Money talks in Football and always has .
Ferguson must have spent a fortune on a dozen or more flops ,who cost massive fees .
But because they had virtually 2 decades of success , that coincided with Sky's gravy train , they were able to absorb any losses on selling on the flops .
Much is made about Clough's short spell of success at Forest in the late 70's - early 80's.
But he spent fortunes on quite a few players .
Shilton - then record fee for a keeper .
Francis - First £M player .
If football clubs had to manage without a transfer market , I wonder who'd have been top dogs and top managers then ?

love him or hate him, it's hard to look further than arsene wenger. what he's done at arsenal with far less resources than those around him is nothing short of miraculous!

I had to laugh when Hodgson said Rooney's Tom Daley impersonation wasn't a dive. Should have gone to specsavers Roy.

yeah could be a case against disallowing all 3 of united's goals last night. seriously how can a team be that shit and still have only lost 1 in 19 games
im guessing with the united vs arsenal game being on BBC the liverpool rovers game will be on BT hope not means will have to go round watch it at my uncles liverpool fan and it always ends up in a family row when liverpool loses haha

Wonder if he took lessons at the Ashley Young Diving school
Yet again shows how quick refs are with giving a penalty when clearly it wasn't!! And I doubt if the FA would punish their National team captain. I hope Roy will be stronger and punish him by taking the armband away from him and giving it to someone more responsible.
surely Rooney should have showed a better example to kids when he is such a role model?
Love to know where Roy gets his eyes tested, probably Boots!!

So according to the Italy head coach there's too many black/coloured players in Italy his words not mine and that his words were taken out of context so what did he actually mean then Hmmmm.
