If they took action against Barnes then they would saying more or less that the referee was inept. They hate to do that as they erroneously think that will undermine the respect of referees.

Apparently as the referee "saw" the incident there can't be retrospective action. The FA has made itself look really behind the times as in Scotland he would have been retrospectively banned ever if ref had seen incident.

Martin Atkinson and Kevin Friend will not referee in the Premier League this weekend following their much-criticised performances.
RE: Football Banter - HannahsPet - 24-02-2015 11:48
Nah they will referee the FA cup week after lol
RE: Football Banter - terence - 24-02-2015 12:16
so the 2022 world cup looks like it will be played at the end of november till the end of december. what a fuckin joke. the amount of disruption this will cause is incalculable. football, the people's sport! lol.
RE: Football Banter - mikedafc - 24-02-2015 13:30
^ In the UK yes it will cause disruption, however elsewhere in Europe where countries have different start & end of season dates plus winter breaks already built into their seasons the effect will be much less if at all
RE: Football Banter - terence - 24-02-2015 13:37
some have winter breaks yes, but not at the time of the proposed tournament. also players will have to be released weeks before the tournament and will maybe require some time off after it's over. it will throw all of Europe's leagues into chaos.

I heard mention that the tournament will be shortened to protect players from the heat. I don't see how they'd do that unless there are only 3 teams per group maybe. How about splitting the match into 3 lots of 30 minutes so they can have an extra rest, since tradition is going out the window.
