Awesome news lads.Thiago Alves is fighting in Birmingham Smile Made up.

He tweeted " Alright London!!! U guys asked for it and here I come!!! Wink more details soon to come!!! Osu!!! "

We'll forgive him for thinking he's goin to London Rolleyes He'll fight undefeated newcomer Papy Abedi.

Also rumours floating around that Shane Carwin will be at UFC 138 Smile He's been talking about it a bit on twitter, saying he doesn't know if he'd be cleared in time for it but that he'd love to fight here again.

Looks like we're getting a good card! Smile

RE: UFC - BaddaBing - 20-07-2011 18:43

Can't wait for 138, been 3 years since I went to my last live event. Anyone know if the ring girls do signings/photo ops in the build up to events? I need to tick "Get a picture with Arianny Celeste" off my life list Big Grin

RE: UFC - groundnpound - 20-07-2011 20:17

I think the ring girls are at the fan expo's BaddaBing! Smile They don't have many but they'll surely have one coming to Britain again.

They had one at UFC12O in London, think that was the first international expo they held.

RE: UFC - mitchell - 20-07-2011 20:36

Typical Yank/Brazilian using the city of London when talking about the UK/England this has gone passed to point of pissing me off!!! When are they gonna learn some geography.

Thiago Alves & the main event aside it looks like being the usual home grown event. Rolleyes

Chris Leben v Mark Muñoz
Brad Pickett v Renan Barão
Thiago Alves v Papy Abedi
Anthony Njokuani v Paul Taylor
John Hathaway was supposed to be fighting at UFC 137: GSP v Diaz but now looks to have been dropped to this card.

I was gonna say I bet Paul Kelly will be on this card aswell but I've just seen he got cut after his fight of the night loss to Donald Cerrone at UFC 126 in February. Kelly had a 5-4 record.
He was supposed to fight Afakasi Sione at UCMMA 21 June 25 but pulled out due to injury.

Andre Winner (2-4 UFC) has also been cut after losing to Anthony Njokuani at UFC 132.

It looks like it may be a decent show so far???

RE: UFC - Gaz "AV1" Aston - 20-07-2011 20:48

Im gonna try and grab a ticket for this one (obviously im a local boy Wink ) and it will be my first UFC event if i can get one...Fingers crossed lads Big Grin

RE: UFC - groundnpound - 20-07-2011 20:58

Was at UFC89 the last time in Birmingham and Leben was the main event then, not my brew tbh but should be a decent fight with Munoz.

I hope Carwin gets on this card.He fought at 89 aswell.Awesome.If he does get clearance Carwin vs Struve could get made for me.

Think if Dan Hardy wins next month they could get him back out again for 138?

Same here AV.Hope u get your hands on some mate Wink

RE: UFC - BaddaBing - 20-07-2011 21:26

I'm semi local and just found out I might have access to a ticket via an inside source Wink Just hope they can get enough for me and the lads.

I went to 89 which was my first but 91 at the Grand Garden Arena in Vegas was the bomb diggy, lol

Randy v Lesnar...Must've been brilliant mate! Wink

Sounds like Brock's making a speedy recovery...

Former UFC heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar is alive and getting well on his farm in Canada, UFC president Dana White said in a recent conference all.

Lesnar is on the mend following surgery in late May that removed 12 inches of his large intestine after his latest bout with diverticulitis, an intestinal disease, kept him out of his main event match against Junior dos Santos at UFC 131 in Vancouver.

“I talked to his manager. You want to hear how fast this guy is recovering?” White said.

“He has a big farm in Canada and he’s basically up there farming. He’s completely disconnected himself from the world, no phones, no nothing. He’s not talking to anybody.”

Lesnar’s first bout with the disease came in 2009 and forced him to pull out of a fight with Shane Carwin. But the behemoth was able to bounce back and defeat Carwin before losing his belt to Cain Velasquez at UFC 121.

The question is, can he bounce back this time? The MMA world and his boss certainly hope so.

“We’re hoping he can be back by the first of the year,” White said. “His recovery has been incredible.”
