RE: Olympics 2012 - Tumble_Drier - 11-08-2012 21:42

The idiot known as Inverdale struck again tonight.

The Medal ceremonies have been widely called the Crying Games in the press, but mentioning it during a ceremony involving Caster Semenya was a tad insensitive, i thought....

I fell about laughing when he handed over to the diving "and let's see how Tom Daley's getting on with Clare Balding"

I don't see why the officials wouldn't let Bolt keep it

They did let him keep it in the end.

I think Gabby Logan, John Inverdale and Gary Lineker all need a lesson in interviewing. When you ask the guest a question, wait for them to complete the answer and don't talk over them. Smile

The trouble is, most presenters/commentators nowadays are either former participants or "celebrities". There's nothing wrong with that per se but few of them have had any formal journalistic training, and whereas in the past the former sportsman/woman was used solely as the pundit they are now getting the lead roles and quite frankly some of them are just not up to it.

RE: Olympics 2012 - malicious fan - 11-08-2012 23:26

just watched the highlights programme and they showed luke campbell winning gold and during it gabby and the guests including david beckham were discussing what luke had been thru after losing his mother and baby sister 6 years ago! at the end of the programme gabby did a apology and said actually lukes mother had just watched the programme! how embarrasing for the bbc and gabby!!

RE: Olympics 2012 - Money_Shot - 11-08-2012 23:41

Ouch! That is a blunder!

I hate that kind of journalism where you can tell it is just guess work

Gabby : Did he lose his mother?

Researcher : Umm... yeah?

...

Gabby : It must be so hard for him after losing his mother....

Do your fucking research or don't say anything at all.

By the way, well done Luke Campbell Big Grin
