RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - Tractor boy - 19-05-2020 22:38 Congratulations to Captain Tom Moore on his Knighthood for his fundraising. RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - lovebabes56 - 20-05-2020 05:12 Many congratulations Sir!!! Surely he now has got be honoured as an unsung hero at SPOTY awards I think that has become a one horse race. The problem the Government now faces is minimising the impact of recession on the economy and I would say the recession that is following the pandemic and lifting of lockdown is going - as Sunak has warned - "to be on a scale we have never seen before" and one that will have an impact on all our futures. I get the feeling the that extending the furlough scheme till October which seemed to to be a good idea - could now become the real deal breaker in all of this. The level of job losses that have already been announced are showing that we are in for a very bumpy ride and we have to quickly find a way to manage the economy in a situation where we could be having repeated furloughing of staff and lockdowns over the next few years and cope with the possibility of several business sectors disappearing for long periods of time possibly, even forever. So getting the level of lifting this lockdown right is key at the moment, but if we have to go into lockdown again further down the line - which is a distinct possibility - therein lies the possibility it could get harder each time to come out of each lockdown and the scarring to the economy could be that much deeper and harder to ease each time. RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - Tractor boy - 20-05-2020 11:29 On a lighter lockdown note, I read youtube exercise guru Joe Wicks has a weekly sex session with his wife (former page 3 girl Rosie Jones ) If I was him I would cut down on the workouts and use the energy saved on 5 times a day and 7 days week sex sessions with the Lovely Rosie. RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - Chrisst - 20-05-2020 11:48 William Rhys-Mogg is currently on PMQ arguing that MP's should return to Westminster pronto on democratic grounds. I can't believe it. Me. Me actually agreeing with that man. His politics slightly to the right of Pol Pot. They should just make this permanent, if they can't behave like normal human beings in the chamber. Parliament is a lot more civilised this way. It's almost like Holyrood RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - stowman - 20-05-2020 14:42 Why, when we are in the middle of a pandemic with hundreds of people still dying each day, is Parliament going into two weeks of recess? The only time we see Boris, the man supposedly leading this country during this difficult time, is at PMQs and now we won’t even have that for two weeks so nobody to ask the awkward questions and hold him to account for the mess he and his so called ministers are making of tackling the virus. |
