RE: Rapidshare - dirk362 - 15-11-2012 10:04

It would seem RapidShare are in the process of going through their user base and locking accounts. For no underlying reason, or at least one they're not sharing or posting anywhere. I'm aware of at least 2 heavy contributors to this and other forums already locked out.
Really really sorry to hear that quiquems has already been afflicted - they won't care as a company the impact it has on the individuals, or indeed the costs you've paid, but I do hope you get your account re-instated.
Let's hope this is not the start of the slippery slope like MegaUpload.
Looking for another hosting service provider isn't easy as very few provide the same sort of value as RS does. Currently checking out uploaded.net

Rapidshare's new user changes have come into effect today.

As a free user I can only "share" 1GB of data, anyone with a RapidPro account can "share" 30GB.

Since 1GB of data has already been downloaded from the videos I have uploaded, for the next 24 hours, anyone trying to download a video I have posted on the forum with Rapidshare will see this:

I was curious if the 24limit reset at the same time for all users. This is from the Rapidshare FAQ.
Quote:At 00:00 CET, the Public Traffic will be reset and you can start downloading files from him again.

So rather than having download traffic spread throughout the day, people all over the world will be waiting for midnight to start their downloads. This could be interesting.

They are going to lose even more business with this stupid change, I bet whoever suggested it thought they were being clever, ''I've got a great anti-piracy concept''...let the carnage commence.
As a paying customer I should be able to download whatever I want, not be fucking limited. Looks like it'll be pot luck getting a file you want Rolleyes

I've been on two other forums not been able to download anything what is the point having a premium membership no wonder a lot of uploaders are using different upload sites

RE: Rapidshare - dirk362 - 29-11-2012 11:01

48 hours in and it's already starting to cause issues and frustration. I had one popular file for Gemma which was large, and straight away went over the 30Gb daily limit. Setting this to expire at 00:00 CET will be an issue as they'll melt their internet pipes when people all schedule the downloads to try and catch what they want as soon as the clock resets.

As a paying premium user, not happy that I am limited in downloads. I can sort of see the logic they went through when discussing/agreeing this, but it will be the death of them in terms of paying customers.
Challenge, as we've said elsewhere, is to come up with another hoster or 2 (but no more than 2) that provides sensible services and doesn't penalise premium members. But we need some general concensus on who the other hosters should be otherwise end-users will get frustrated for different reasons.

I gave up with RS because of their constant tinkering with terms and conditions. Every time they meddle it seems to be a massive cock-up, and usually they end up back-tracking a month or so later to try to put things right.
This plan seems like the most ridiculous yet. 1GB for free users is madness, that amounts to what, 3 videos from this forum! And still being limited on downloads, despite being a paying customer, is seriously taking the michael.

For what it's worth, netload has been performing very well for me just lately (as a non paying user).
I also see a lot of porn related stuff moving to ryushare just lately, fast downloads for free users, no captchas, usually 2 files simultaneously.

A lot of the Sexstation videos I have uploaded are well over 1GB per file. Thanks to Rapidshare they're as good as dead now unless I buy a RapidPro account, which isn't going to happen because I wouldn't personally benefit from it in any way. It's even more frustrating because out of all the videos I upload, the Sexstation ones get the most downloads. Of course I can change filehost now but they've just wasted hundreds of gigabytes that I've put so much time into already.

RE: Rapidshare - dirk362 - 30-11-2012 17:55

This new system from RapidShare is a f**king joke. Within 2 hours after it reset, my 30Gb allowance was used as people downloaded stuff I'd recently posted.
Even when I take the effort to partition off my files via folders and then share them to others via Contacts (which is time consuming but does at least get around this limit), it makes little difference as 30Gb just isn't enough.
So most people will have to think about extra tools (e.g. JDownloader) to allow them to schedule downloads and then saturate the service at 00:01 to try and get what they're after.
Bunch of mindless f**k-wits. Can you tell I'm a little frustrated Smile

RE: Rapidshare - Robot Devil - 02-12-2012 15:30

Rapidshare, you officially suck donkey schlong ! This 1GB limit is farcical. Even 1GB limit PER file would be something, but 1GB per member is crazy. Haven't been able to D/L a single file via Rapidshare since the 27th. Utter shite. And most aggrivating, as it was the fastest D/L host for me by a country mile. Only Netload compares, speed wise. But no one uses Netload any more. AHHHHHHHH !!! Man wants dirty, seedy porno !!!
