This game had me gripped back in the day. The setting and the atmospheric music made this a classic for me. I must return to it some day (I never did complete it. I believe it got too damned hard). I feel strangely drawn.
Another classic was Xybots. An arcade game ported to the Amiga and truly came into its own when playing co-op (or deathmatch, although I'm sure that wasn't intended) with a friend.

I've played far too many games just to have one favourite.
From some of the formats I've had -
Amstrad CPC 464 - Dizzy series, Target Renegade
Master System - Sonic 1, Alex Kidd in Miracle World
Mega Drive - Phantasy Star 2, 3 and 4, Landstalker, Shining Force 2.
Saturn - Sega Rally, Command & Conquer, Dark Savior, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Shining The Holy Ark
PS1 - Final Fantasy 7 and 8, Tenchu, Parasite Eve 2, MGS.
PS2 - MGS 2 and 3, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy 10, Manhunt, Shadow Hearts.
XBOX - Morrowind, Jade Empire
X360 - Oblivion, Fallout 3.
....Plus loads of others I've forgotten about.
...I really regret having to sell my Sega Saturn 10 years ago. God knows how much it would cost to get one + the above games for it now.

As much as people will disagree with me but one of my favourites has to be Final Fantasy X. Have played it over and over again and while some of it annoys me, most of all the unskippable cut scenes, everything else is perfect to me and I love it.
I also love the Disgaea series, many people haven't played it but it's truly awesome.

rez evil as a whole apart from 5 are in my list as they are the classics of the genre.
