Whats so great about Holland when it comes to cycling?

RE: Cycling - cmiller - 29-04-2012 11:08

i think Amsterdam was the first major city to adopt/encourage cycling as a major form of transportation - less air pollution, less noise pollution. on days like today though, cycling isn't fun Sad

RE: Cycling - Boomerangutangangbang - 29-04-2012 11:39

Amsterdam & Holland as a whole kinda lends itself to cycling,it's flat as fook ! Due to the cycling culture it also has the 4th safest roads in the world.

RE: Cycling - Money_Shot - 29-04-2012 11:43

And cyclist seem to have more rights then both pedestrians and cars. I love cycling in Amsterdam, it is always good fun and like Boomer has already said, it is really flat. The roads/paths are maintained much much better and there is so many routes available on bikes. If London and other major cities was like Amsterdam people would be more inclined to ride without a doubt.

harder to pick up hookers on a bike though! Big Grin

I got to check out Amsterdam some day . . . . . . and maybe try out the weed also

RE: Cycling - cmiller - 29-04-2012 12:39

did you bring your own bike, Shot, or hire one out there? i'd like to go as well. looks like a nice clean place (albeit one that's infamous for it's red light district!)

RE: Cycling - Money_Shot - 29-04-2012 13:06

The red light district is cool. It is facinating to be honest, and if you choose to participate then it's perfectly accecpted out there.

No I rented the bikes out. They were a joy to ride, if I remember I think they were a bit heavy, but still great fun and they were old school bikes where you pedal backwards to brake! Big Grin

Something like this...

These are just pics of Amsterdam, this will give you an idea how much they like their bikes out there.

The typical bike one would rent in Amsterdam has a good seat...plenty of action when nailing a bird while she sits upon it...Tongue....bouncy bounce bounce...

RE: Cycling - LODOS - 29-04-2012 13:07
