Good win today for Somerset by 7 wickets over Durham who from being champions last year are winless after 5 games this year

For the 2nd season running Surrey will be without captain Graeme Smith who requires knee surgery.Hashim Amla will provide cover as an overseas player,with Gary Wilson taking over the captaincy role.

First sign of some sunshine & the batsmen filled their boots in the Championship yesterday with 7 centuries.

Division 1 leaders Middlesex put Durham in at Durham ICG & watched them score 411-4.Stoneman 187 & Borthwick 164 not out, put on 274 for the 2nd wicket.

Yorkshire fought back well on day 2 at Northampton,giving up a 115 run deficit on first innings,Ltth 116 not out & Lees 105 not out,added 237,which is the highest opening stand this season.

Elsewhere 2 batsmen/spinners who could be vying for an England spot,staked their claims,Samit Patel 142 not out & Moeen Ali 138 not out.
Alviro Petersen made 109 not out in a 3rd wicket partnership of 193 with Nick Compton at Old Trafford.

Yorkshire openers Lyth 230 & Lees 138 shared a stand of 375,the 4th highest in the clubs history.

Yorkshire beat Northamptonshire by 271 runs after trailing by 115 runs in the 1st innings.

Yorkshire won the County Championship for the first time since 2001. Of course the previous time they won the County Championship was back in 1968.

Lancashire did indeed get relegated. I'm not a fan of these "get out of jail" situations, and if we'd done better throughout the season, we wouldn't need a last minute rescue.

Our record of: Champions; Relegated; Promoted; Relegated; really shows there's something majorly wrong there.
