It just waiting for the Tory heirarcy to rubber stamp it, and we have a new Prime Minister

And I cannot see her taking Brexit any further forward

That's rubbish mate. Watch the news and see what she said today.

Leadsom's never really been in the spotlight before. I'm not saying it's right she was getting abuse, but if she can't handle this she'd never hack it as PM.

I was watching on BBC2, as Eagle started her leadership speech about 2 minutes to midday, and a couple of minutes into it, the programme suddenly ended and cut to an ad for a train-spotting programme on BBC4. I don't know if they were trying to make a point, seemed a cruel coincidence Wink

Now may has ben elected leader of Conservative party with immediate effect - with no mandate I haste to add!!

The Conservatives have a mandate . You vote for a party and a manifesto in a GE not a leader. but let labour call a general election all it will mean is an even larger majority for the torys least with an 8 majority a chance of stopping stuff from happening

^ ^We don't vote for the Prime Minister. It is not like the President of the USA. At the 2015 General Election the Conservatives had a manifesto and that still stands. Due process will be followed in Parliament for any new laws passed. Brexit will be implemented. That's seems like mandate enough for me.

^ Of course you are right. But a large slice of the electorate don't like a pm being switched part way through a parliamentary term - look at Gordon Brown. (I know not something that should normally be encouraged! Wink )

In this case it is probably a mute point in any case, as any pm in charge atm is obviously going to be made or broken on the back of how well they handle the full Brexit. Everything else will be small fry.
