Stop start sort of day with a number of weather interruptions. England 171/4 at the moment.

Well played Cook today, dug in, battled, not pretty but lives to fight (and hopefully score) another day

Root was bowled by an absolute snorter of a delivery from Rabada.
A battle of a day for England but they are applying themselves a bit better in this innings overall.

Cook battling and looking like his old self. My one complaint is Bairstow at 7. Jennings, Westley and Malan are not better players than him, in my view Jennings out, Malan/Stoneman open and Bairstow at 5.

England 353 all out, Stokes 112 Cook 88.

South Africa 126-8 and it's a great debut for Toby Roland-Jones taking the first 4 wickets to fall.

Impressed with the innings of Stokes.
Earnt the right to play his shots today by gutsing it out yesterday.
Then TRJ comes roaring in to dismantle the South African top order.
Excellent day for England Smile.

Well the weather looks crap for tomorrow but hopefully I'll get to see SA skittled out and Root decide whether to enforce the follow on or bat them into the ground. Although tomorrow's forecast for the afternoon is bad Sunday & Monday look ok so my preference would be to put them back in again given the chance and see if they are any better 2nd time under cloudy skies.

RE: England v South Africa 2017 - Mellow - 29-07-2017 12:16

South Africa 175 all out. Roland-Jones 5-57

England 74/1 before rain intervened as expected. Looking like it may have set in for the day now Sad.
England lead by 252 runs.
