I’m not really a cricket fan I must admit, especially when my ice hockey is underway, which it is this weekend after Manchester Storm had their Meet The Players & Shirt Launch on friday.

So I was watching The Simpsons Movie on Film4 until my dad came into my room & said put the cricket on, England are on the brink of winning it.

So put the cricket on and I was gripped, what an incredibly dramatic ending

Yeah luckily I will be able to watch it in a few minutes.

Incredible. Brilliant batsmanship from Stokes, take 5 balls and leave Leech to either parry, block or run for one. My god he leads a charmed life, dropped by Warner, mishandled by Lyon, lbw plumb shot, but not given by umpire and because the Aussies had wasted their last review the verdict stayed with England. Ben goes from villain(arrested for a fracas outside a bar last year, faced a court case and a prison sentence) came back and went to hero again in the World Cup, to hero again for single-handedly winning an Ashes Test Match- I'd be surprised if there isn't some kind of honour at the end of the year. Remarkable!

now they have week to sort the team out properly. Boycott was right on C5 England have to apply their discipline properly to both their batting & bowling. so thoughts on batting order guys what do you all think?

Was yesterday's comeback better than '81? I would say it was on a par with that famous day, but Stokes probably must have watched a replay of that famous innings a million times and took a leaf out of it somewhere I'm sure & I bet Beefy was proud to see him emulating him. the sixes were outrageous and the series is alive again

At least now, it is in the list of most successful run chases as well : -

problem is they have been in the one day mindset for most of the summer and its not easy to get back into a test mindset again the world cup and ashes being in the same summer could have bitten in the ass

Stokes innings was a best of both worlds was test with the discipline until jack leach was with him for the last wicket then he had to go into one day mode because wasnt sure how long jack leach could stay with him so he took risks and got the rewards

if he had carried on playing test way for the last wicket then we prob could have lost

N better sight than seeing the Aussie fans crying after the winning runs!!

If the Aussies had their time over again, I bet - instead of going for the 50/50 catches, they would make sure of stopping the boundaries, ensuring England had further to travel, and the pressure on stokes that little bit greater! Outcome may have been the same, but worth a thought!

Absolutely hate the hyperbolic response to all of this. First item on the news,,,,,,,,seriously?? (what priorities - not for the first time) - (particularly BBC who should be forcibly brought into line!!)

If Ireland, Wales win the RWC, will they do likewise?? Infinitely more important!!

I thought that Beefy's claim that with this outcome, Test cricket is in a good place, and the talk of it's demise is overstated! I have news for him, outside England, while there may be interest, there is little relevance, and crowds in the WI etc will not grow as a result of it either!!

I would imagine Australia will give serious consideration to the return of Starc!! He would not have given Stokes those hitting zones yesterday (probably couldn't have done much against his inventiveness though) and would, I think, have got rid of Leach - at least!! when he seemed 'secure' yesterday! He is a good bat all the same to be fair.

I wonder whether Smith will be able to hit the ground running though! - picking up where he left off?? May not be as simple as people think!!
