I don't think that we need to worry about some of the energy companies going bust any more. EON, for example, have made billions in profit in the first quarter.

EDF energy company is suing the French government for €8.3bn as Macron has forced them to sell at a loss.

all the energy firms are loading up the profits during the last few years of fossil fuels use, in the meantime they get billions from us in green energy tax - which they will use to create "green" energy - which they will then sell to us at a massive profit - the sicilian mafia were less greedy and ruthless

If money is needed in reducing the impact of the Energy Crisis then we need look no further that those companies who have made millions out of the test and trace programme.
There are 8 companies who have made more than 63 million each.

^Problem is all of them probably I bet are owned by mates of Dominic Raab etc and if there is any of that money left. You can't take back what isn't there to take. I can't see them going back to those companies and say "We'd like that money back please"

I'd say getting back that 37bn or whatever it was won't be easy.

If there is an easy answer to this It will only be a sticking plaster job and will probably be looked at again in 2 - 3 years time. the other half of the equation is OFGEM. I think they have done very little in protecting customers from this crisis and i fear that this time next year we'd be looking at nearly £5,000 a year which I fear will be way out of anyone's monthly budget,, and I can't see OFGEM even saying enough is enough then. Like the FA's fit and proper test OFGEM Is not fit for pupose.
