Wes Anderson's second film sees Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman both in superb form as they battle for the hand of Olivia Williams.Strange in tone, you don't know whether to laugh or cry at the often cringe worthy(deliberate)scenes. Extras : Commentary Making of Featurettes Storyboards Poster RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - Rammyrascal - 19-11-2018 16:35 Star Trek: Discovery (Season One) This excellent series is now out on Blu-ray & if you haven’t watched because it was on Netflix...DO SO!!!! get all 15 episodes on 4 Blu-Ray discs and plenty of extras: Promos Deleted Scenes Featurettes: Discovering Discovery: The Concepts & Casting of Star Trek: Discovery Standing In The Shadow Of Giants: Creating The Sound Of Discovery Creature Comforts Designing Discovery Creating Space Prop Me Up A Woman’s Journey Dress For Success Season 1 Promo Star Trek: Discovery: The Voyage Of Season 1 RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - rpj316 - 20-11-2018 13:56 Grabbed two for £12 at a market in Leeds the other day. Bloody Spear at Mount Fuji(1955) A period drama/samurai/road movie from Tomu Uchida that has a very different premise. The samuria Lord Sakawa is a very skillful warrior and likeable when sober but his flaw is he turns belligerent and nasty when drink so the real hero is his loyal spear carrier Gonpachi, who stays by his master's side through thick and thin. Extras : Intro Commentary Interviews Booklet The Uninvited(1944) A decent ghost story effort from Lewis Allen that in places is very atmospheric and does have some elegantly staged scares. The score is also wonderful but the tone gets a bit too light once the corny antics of Ray Milland and Ruth Hussey start. Extras : Visual essay Radio adaptations Booklet RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - rpj316 - 24-11-2018 15:39 Found Candyman(1992)in Tesco Direct for £12 last night when I was fueling up. Just watched it and the extras today.Based on Clive Barker's story The Forbidden,it swaps Liverpool for Chicago and mixes fantasy with racial and social subtexts perfectly as Tony Todd stars as a legendary murdered slave, wreaking vengeance for anyone who says his name five times.Brilliantly acted, this was one of the best horror films made in the 90s and it still holds up. Extras : Commentary Featurettes Short films Collectable booklet RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - *Kal-El* - 26-11-2018 11:31 Justice League Gods And Monsters Another DC Animated movie to add to my collection nearly have all of them but do have some catching up to do. The Picture Transfer is great and it looks detailed and crisp, along with the sound quality which sounds fantastic. Extras: Alternate Realities: Infinite Possibilities Featurette. Calculated Risks: The Making of Gods and Monsters Featurette. A Sneak Peek At DC Universe’s next Animated Movie. The New Gods Vintage Featurette From the DC Comics Vault - 2 Bonus Cartoons. No digital copy which is a shame, also did a Unboxing in YouTube: https://youtu.be/zipmsLoFpCE RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - rpj316 - 27-11-2018 12:37 I highly recommend the John Carpenter Classics series.I got mine delivered this morning(undamaged). The Fog(1980)Steelbook The low key,old fashioned but still creepy ghost story effort with a great cast looks superb with its new 4K restoration. Escape from New York(1981) Another stunning 4K restoration that just adds to the enjoyment of watching Kurt Russell take out a load of legendary B-movie actors. Prince of Darkness(1987) The second part of Carpenter's apocalypse triology looks amazing this time round thanks to the 4K remastering job but it can't disguise the film from being the weakest of the releases. They Live(1988)Steelbook A straight forward but enjoyable plot backed up by a charismatic turn from Roddy Piper and one of the great cinematic fight scenes that lasts over six minutes.Again, all in glorious 4K detail. Extras : (each film) Commentaries Featurettes Introductions Deleted scenes Extended scenes Outtakes Photo galleries RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - Skyline - 27-11-2018 12:59 Brilliant selection there rpj316, I'm going to be ordering my 4k version of Escape From New York very soon and They Live, an absolutely classic film, many great quotes in this film and the fight scene between Roddy Piper and Keith David is a classic, lots of good humour and a decent Sci-Fi movie, John Carpentar at his best back in the day. RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - Rammyrascal - 03-12-2018 15:32 Antman & The Wasp Get one disc with the film & a decent amount of extras including a director introduction, featurettes, gag/blooper reel, deleted scene & audio commentary RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - *Kal-El* - 05-12-2018 10:41 Atomic Blonde First saw this in the cinema but waited for a price drop on blu ray which I glad I did. First of all the picture transfer is stunning not only highly detailed and crisp but the dark colours look deep and rich and really make the film pop. Sound transfer is fantastic especially through a home cinema system. Extras Commentary with Director David Leitch Deleted Scenes Anatomy of a fight scene Blondes have more gun. And so much more! Plus you have the digital copy of the movie. Picked it up brand new from Sainsbury’s for a fiver. |
