^I agree & think Parliament recesses should be temporarily halted until we are fully on top of this thing. The Government must think we are idiots not to notice them sneaking off on recess when people are dying, people are losing their jobs. This smacks of incompetence & a lack of respect of Government addressing the problem of the highest order.

I can't believe it. Me. Me actually agreeing with that man. His politics slightly to the right of Pol Pot.

That's a rather unfair comparison ... I mean, Pol Pot was bad, but he wasn't THAT bad laugh

Over the centuries the people of this country have acted to achieve democracy; we even executed a monarch.
Currently we devote enormous resources to ensure that any Tom, Dick or Boris can achieve the highest office in the land.
And yet still I for one feel largely disenfranchised.

Over the last few weeks MPs have been able to vote on-line. Rees-Mogg’s said yesterday that under his plan to return to a full parliament they would be returning to voting through the lobby albeit with social distancing. This means that MPs who can’t return because they are shielding, vulnerable or pregnant won’t be able to cast a vote. Hardly democratic.

On top of that only fifty MPs will be able to sit in the chamber at any onetime, so it’s pointless them all returning and putting themselves and staff in harms way.

Go to work; don’t go to work! ?

I think Rees Mogg will soon suddenly realise how futile his plan to get all the MP's back in the Commons actually is when you notice only 50 MP's are allowed in the chamber at any one time. probably the rest of the MP'S will be asked to social distance on the lawns around the Commons!! Tongue Tongue come rain or shine!!

The less MP' s the greater chance of proper democracy (not sham democracy), so pack the commons. The less MP' s would less ignore the whole nation and actions would be taken at the time close to the start of a problem, not too late.

Let's face it, the real reason Rees Mogg (can that be abbreviated to Smug?) wants MP's back is because Boris is getting mauled by Starmer at PMQ's without the braying crowd of backbench arse lickers to holler their support at his every word.

Yeah, he got beaten up about the NHS surcharge on foreign NHS workers, and folded yesterday like a wet rag.

Unusual to see a PM with a big majority get pushed around like that. Maybe they removed his backbone when he was in intensive care... laugh

and a part of that big space between his ears marked 'PM Mode' went missing as well..

So the government plan to impose £1,000 fines on people breaking their home quarantine.
Suppose that it's one way for them to get the billions back.
