RE: Cricket Banter - hornball - 05-02-2022 20:09 Rew was simply brilliant with his 95. Shame he couldn't read the game that little bit more, and keep ticking over to a position where England could have accelerated (relative) through the last overs. As it stands, India 117/4 so England fighting hard, but what a difference those few unused overs could have made.......easy in hindsight -but their importance is being seen now! Not meaning to detract from his knock (or that of Sales) over all as without him, the three lions would be nowhere!! Showed a lot of nous actually that some within the senior ranks would do well to learn! RE: Cricket Banter - Boomerangutangangbang - 05-02-2022 21:21 England Under 19s battled hard in the field to try & defend an under par score. At 91-7 the innings was rescued by top scorer Rew (95) & Sales 34 not out who added 93. India took their time when they batted with no pressure to score, keeping wickets in hand. No shame to get beaten by an impressive India side. All the batsmen looked to have sound techniques, & India's dominance looks set to continue. England have a very competitive side, with many of our players already with county experience. The general standard of the competition as a whole has been as good as I've seen from this age group. Some may say that the conditions were too skewed against the batsman, but apply themselves with the correct technique and mental approach, and they could play! I don't think that SA batted all that well, not respecting the conditions and playing for their off stump - leaving being the MO to search for! NZ didn't exactly tear up trees with their inns start, but a lead on this track is priceless and they are decently placed now - still with work to do! A great watch for a knowledgeable audience - remember us?? Roll on the following 4 days! Shame for only two tests to the series. This really is something that the ICC has to address. |
