RE: Fascinating Facts and Trivia - Carl-Gen X - 22-01-2019 09:29 Old Vikings believed that in their heaven called Valhalla, there is a giant goat whose udders provided unlimited supply of beer. RE: Fascinating Facts and Trivia - Carl-Gen X - 22-01-2019 09:30 Ancient Babylonians were so serious about brewing beer that if anyone brewed a bad batch, they would drown him in it as punishment. RE: Fascinating Facts and Trivia - GMach1 - 22-01-2019 12:02 When I was young I and my sister were lucky enough to be in the audience for Record Breakers(with Roy Castle) and when they were moving the set about I managed to fall over a piece of scenery, but a naturalist called Gerald Wood bought in a real tarantula spider and a model. Unfortunately, as they were setting up for his bit with Roy he accidentally knocked the spider model out of his hands and they had to take it off set to mend it-oops! Whenever you saw a programme at Christmas the chances are it was recorded during the Summer. Again as luck would have it I managed to get back to the BBC to see another recording of Rcord Breakers but this time I got to sit in the gallery(all through my Dad) and this was recorded in November but it was due to go out New Years Eve. My other claim to fame was being bought a Coke(which I hated) by Roy in the fabled BBC club(I was underage but he managed to wangle it) now that was pure dedication RE: Fascinating Facts and Trivia - GMach1 - 22-01-2019 14:38 For Close Encounters of the Third Kind John Williams the composer presented Spielberg with over 300 variations of the five note alien greeting from which to choose. Noel Clarke is one of the few actors to be in Doctor Who(as Mickey) and the Star Trek franchise; appearing in Star Trek into Darkness. Many people struggle to name the Seven Dwarfs let alone the cast of the original The Magnificent Seven. RE: Fascinating Facts and Trivia - Carl-Gen X - 22-01-2019 14:52 One more beer fact for the day... Beer and marijuana have more in common than you might think. Beer’s hops are in the same family of flowering plants as marijuana. RE: Fascinating Facts and Trivia - GMach1 - 22-01-2019 21:12 Kwaftwerk's song Computer World(the German innovative new music sensation of the 70's and electronic whizzes) was used in the opening title sequence (featuring a cartoon owl flying into a home) for the BBC television series on computers 'The Computer Programme' which was fronted by Chris Serle and Ian MacNaughton-Davies(Mac) RE: Fascinating Facts and Trivia - The Goatman - 22-01-2019 23:13 With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility RE: Fascinating Facts and Trivia - GMach1 - 22-01-2019 23:46 EXCELSIOR!! I think Stan Lee came up with that for Spider-Man(isn't that what Uncle Ben tells young Peter Parker?) RE: Fascinating Facts and Trivia - Carl-Gen X - 23-01-2019 14:07 Beer strengthens bones. It is rich in silicon that increases calcium deposits and minerals for bone tissue. RE: Fascinating Facts and Trivia - Carl-Gen X - 23-01-2019 14:08 Cenosillicaphobia is a fear of an empty beer glass. |
