When I was young I and my sister were lucky enough to be in the audience for Record Breakers(with Roy Castle) and when they were moving the set about I managed to fall over a piece of scenery, but a naturalist called Gerald Wood bought in a real tarantula spider and a model. Unfortunately, as they were setting up for his bit with Roy he accidentally knocked the spider model out of his hands and they had to take it off set to mend it-oops! Whenever you saw a programme at Christmas the chances are it was recorded during the Summer. Again as luck would have it I managed to get back to the BBC to see another recording of Rcord Breakers but this time I got to sit in the gallery(all through my Dad) and this was recorded in November but it was due to go out New Years Eve. My other claim to fame was being bought a Coke(which I hated) by Roy in the fabled BBC club(I was underage but he managed to wangle it) now that was pure dedication Wink
