RE: UFC - mitchell - 18-08-2011 23:07 No I didn't know but it's typical of the UFC, hence the shock!!! The UFC's deal with Spike tv has ended & they've now signed with the Fox Network to have a few events on the FX channel, mainly TUF which will now be as close to a live event as possible (In the US) the show will be filmed during the week & edited for the show to go out on friday night with a live fight, I'm not sure if it'll be on FX over here or still on ESPN, We'll find out when TUF 12 starts early next year. Whatever channel it's on it'll probably be on on the saturday/sunday night. This will also benefit the fighters as they won't have to wait around 8 months between the start of filming & the finale before they can fight again. UFC LIVE: Hardy v Lytle Reported Payout The following is the reported payout to the fighters as reported to the Wisconsin's Department of Safety and Professional Services. Forrest Griffin,Stephan Bonnar, Mike Swick(as a light heavyweight) , Josh Koscheck, Diego Sanchez, Kenny Florian(middleweight) and Chris Leben. Great stuff. Didn't know this: Lesnar is the biggest pay-per-view draw in the world, joining Mike Tyson as the only athletes to twice draw more than one million buys on pay-per-view in a single year - Tyson did it three times in 1996, while Lesnar did it in 2010, headlining UFC 116 versus Carwin and UFC 121 versus Velasquez. He was also the highest-paid mixed-martial-artist in the world, according to ESPN, earning approximately $5.3 million US in 2010. Great line up, the best ever roster for The Ultimate Fighter. Kenny Florian will be doing commentary at UFC 134. I’d rather have Randy Couture (the man) or Frank Mir instead. I’m not a fan of Frank Mir but I really liked Mir’s commentary for WEC. RE: UFC - groundnpound - 25-08-2011 23:14 UFC 134 Rio. Sat/Sun Morning 2am ESPN. UFC Middleweight Championship: Anderson Silva vs. Yushin Okami – Silva, TKO, R2 Maurício Rua vs. Forrest Griffin – Rua, DEC Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Brendan Schaub – Schaub, TKO, R2 Edson Barboza vs. Ross Pearson – Barboza, DEC Luiz Cane vs. Stanislav Nedkov – Cane, DEC RE: UFC - HEX!T - 27-08-2011 04:37 great lineup for tonight... good luck to the fighters and the guys betting on em RE: UFC - mitchell - 27-08-2011 11:43 UFC 134: Silva v Okami Almost forgot about this one, I haven't got much time to do a post either. Luiz Cane v Stanislav Nedkov I don't know Bulgarian Nedkov but he's 11-0 albeit with only 3 fights outside of his homeland (3 in Japan) he's making his bigtime debut against Luiz Cane who like many will be fighting in his homeland, Cane's 11-3 with 9 round 1 KO's & 2 R1 KO losses, Nedkov has 5 KO's. - Cane TKO Ross Pearson v Edson Barboza Pearson has started well dispite a loss to Cole Miller & I think is one of our top 3 fighters. He'll be looking to make it 2 in a row tonight & a win here would be big news against a Brazilian who himself is making a big start to his UFC career. Barboza has steamed in at 8-0 with 6 TKO/KO's. These two look quite well matched especially with the leg kicks Pearson, Taekwondo & Barboza, Muay Thai & both are good on the ground. - Pearson Decision Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira v Brendan Schaub Lil Nog is 32-6, 20 subs & like most of the 35+ year olds he's fought just about everyone in Pride & the UFC but has lost 2 of his last 3 to Frank Mir & Cain Velasquez to punches & these two fighters are similar to Brendan Schaub who's carrying on his rise after beating Gabriel Gonzaga & Mirko Cro Cop in his last two, but this will be his biggest test yet even more so as it's in Brazil, Schaub's 8-1 with 7 KO's so this maybe a clash of styles but being a Nogueira I'm pretty sure Lil Nog will come for a tear up which may play into the hands of Schaub. - Schaub TKO Maurício Rua v Forrest Griffin The talk for this fight is the winner will be the main event in a possible title contender fight on the first fight on the Fox network UFC on Fox 1 12 November. Having just lost the Light Heavyweight title to Jon Jones Shogun will no doubt be looking to get straight back in the picture here & maybe a title rematch in November. This should be the fight of the night given Forrest's willingness for a tear up in the past & Shogun will obviously be looking for KO number 17 in front of his own fans & to avenge his loss to Forrest by rear naked choke at UFC 76. He may get just that as Forrest Griffin hasn't looked thet great in his last 2 against Tito & Rich Franklin after being out with injury for all of 2010 but who knows maybe it's taken them 2 fights for Forrest to get back in the swing of things & this may be the perfect fight for him to get back to his old self. - Shogun Rua TKO Anderson Silva v Yushin Okami Dispite a KO loss back in 2003 Okami has only lost by Decision on 3 occasions & they were against Jack Shields & Chael Sonnen who are both wrestlers, something that Silva won't do, he's also the last man to beat Silva albeit by DQ in 2006. With a tricky Judo style aswell as freestyle wrestling he could prove a big test for Anderson Silva who will no doubt start as usual by not doing much in the first 3 minutes & this may put the crowd on his back which may make him come at Okami & get close up in the clinch, a chance for Okami to use his Judo to take Silva to the ground & use his wrestling a style that he struggled with againt Sonnen. God knows how this ones gonna go, I think Okami may get a sub win but seen as he's got 12 decisions I'm not too sure. - Okami Decision But no doubt Silva will do some sort of triple somersault back heel front kick to the eye ball & Joe Rogan will get Mike Goldberg pregnant in all the excitement. RE: UFC - gazfc - 27-08-2011 16:47 Was planning on downloading this but just remembered I've still got espn free, fuck yeah RE: UFC - groundnpound - 28-08-2011 00:10 Boss card on tonight lads, can't wait You goin for Okami to beat Anderson in his own garden Mitchell Brave lad Some predictions. Luiz Cane vs. Stanislav Nedkov - 11Fights, 11 wins for the Bulgarian. That'll do me, Nedkov KO Rnd2 Ross Pearson vs. Edson Barboza - 8Fights, 8 wins for Barboza. That'll do me aswell lads lol Barboza KO Rnd1 Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Brendan Schaub - Schaub KO Rnd 1 Maurício Rua vs. Forrest Griffin - Can't wait for this.Love seeing Forrest in a tear up,he'll get one later.Great fight, Griffin Decision Anderson Silva © vs. Yushin Okami - For 15 wins on the bounce, Silva TKO Knees and Punches Rnd 2 RE: UFC - mitchell - 28-08-2011 12:48 (27-08-2011 11:43 )mitchell Wrote: Luiz Cane v Stanislav Nedkov - Cane TKOLuiz Cane v Stanislav Nedkov Having not expected much this was a decent watch & Nedkov showed that even being the little man in the fight, if you're willing to go windmilling in then your in with a chance. Even with his crazy over the top style Nedkov looked quite composed, it'll be interesting to see him in his next fight. Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira v Brendan Schaub Some what of a damp squid this one it didn't really get going as I expected, I thought Schaub would go straight at Nogueira but he looked a little cautious & payed the price, he'll need a big name in his next fight to keep his rising star tag. Ross Pearson v Edson Barboza This was a decent fight without really getting going, Pearson went forward from the start & didn't stop & Barboza used his fast, crisp striking. I thought being the one going forward & pushing the pace Pearson won the first & with the knockdown along with a few good strikes Barboza won the second, but I thought the last round was a draw which would've been a fair result. I don't see this loss knocking Ross back as it was a very close split decision against another up & coming fighter. Maurício Rua v Forrest Griffin Not much to say really, Forrest looks somewhat of a shadow after all his injuries I think he just needs to get back to his old self & stop thinking about fights & going in with the stand & back attitude which got him to where he was before the injuries. Shogun will now probably face the winner of Jon Jones v Rampage. Anderson Silva v Yushin Okami Same old same old. Okami never looked in the fight he looked nervous from the start & surprisingly confused to Silva's style... What did he expect. As for Anderson Silva, who & how someones gonna beat him I don't know, he throws punches you can't even see & they look like a little flick of the wrist but still put people down & out, insane!!! This was a good show & the crowd was on another level even Ronaldo loved it. Bonus awards Fighters were awarded $100,000 bonuses. Fight of the Night: Ross Pearson v Edson Barboza Knockout of the Night: Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira Submission of the Night: Not awarded as no matches ended by submission. What happened to the BBJ. Thiago v Mitchell As you can see from my passport photo, the size difference was immense & the flight to Brazil took a lot out of me but I still thought I won atleast 1 round.. Fuckin judges!!! Hats off to Paulo he fought a great fight & I'll be back. |
