And don't forget that the World Athletics Championships will be held in the Olympic stadium in 2017.

I'm already looking forward to Rio despite a long, long away till it starts. Brazil is going to be one of the most exciting places to live in the next few years

That's bizarre. Athens hosted the games as recently as 2004 and Greece isn't in the top 30 of world economies. Also Madrid and Istanbul are bidding for 2020 and Spain and Turkey are not close to being in the biggest 7 or 8 countries of the world.

Elton John pulled out after a row with the organisers. He was originally director of music for the closing ceremony and was replaced by David Arnold.

Personally I loved most of the closing ceremony and was so proud seeing our terrific athletes who have been simply amazing.

Loved the fireworks of course.

I'm no fan of Russel Brand but loved his version of I Am The Walrus - just a shame my favourite lady lovely HoneyHeart ScottTongue was not one of the skimpy dressed police ladies during Russells performance LOL!!!

Eric Idle was superb. Loved the ballet too - the daughter of one of my radio collegues was in that tonight.

Highlights musically for me, Queen of course, enjoyed Liam Gallagher too. But my faves of the night were Ray Davies of The Kinks and highlight of the whole night were Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey from The Who simply amazing.

We were lucky to see a rare live performance from the 80's line up of The Kinks in Wolverhampton back in March and Waterloo Sunset was the highlight and showstopper of that evening, my very favorite Kinks song of all.

Its been an amazing 16 days of sport and entertainment, our athletes and medal winners more than world class and makes me proud to be British.WinkBig Grin
