In the late 70's a woman named Viv Nicholson became notorious after winning a massive amount of money on the football pools. When asked what she was going to do with the money she replied "I'm going to SPEND SPEND SPEND!" A BBC drama was made about her and her extraordinary life after that win and her subsequent rise and fall of celebrity.

The last manned moon landing took place on December 11 1972, which was the Apollo 17 mission. It was also the last time up to the present day that man left low Earth orbit.

Roger Moore 70's & 80's James Bond was an ambassador for the United Nations(UNICEF) but he was also president for a time of the real life International Rescue Corps (IRC) inspired by 1960's puppet series, 'Thunderbirds' the brainchild of the late Gerry Anderson. Gerry was inspired watching the news about a mining disaster in Germany. The name came from a US Air Force base called Thunderbird Field where his beloved brother Lionel was stationed.

Dundee United football club have a 100% record against Barcelona in European competition. The Scottish minnows have played four matches against the Catalan giants and won them all, 2-1 and 2-0 in 1966 and 1-0 and 2-1 in 1987. This record will probably last forever as the two clubs are unlikely to ever meet again in European competition, especially if the proposed European super league comes to pass.

Apologies if this has already been posted. The former cricket commentator Henry 'Blowers' Blofeld's father was a friend of Ian Fleming, the James Bond writer and it was his surname that was used for the villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld and it was a 'brutal' architect called Erno Goldfinger(whom Ian Fleming had a row with) that ended up as the gold smuggler Auric Goldfinger in the film of the same name. Scenes were filmed on the Army post Fort Knox, and on the approach to the real Bullion Depository but not the internal scenes which were recreated back at Pinewood Studios.

Some of them became actresses but the most successful was Linda Lusardi who went into The Bill to become DC Maggie Lines.

Samantha Fox guested on a few shows and panel games but she also crossed the Atlantic and appeared in an American series called Charles In Charge starring Happy Days's Scott Baio.

Maria Whittaker and another girl Karen Kelly appeared in a sequence of Whoops Apocalypse topless and also Suzanne Mizzi and Christine Peake did a sexy dance routine in that film. Maria also turned up in another film called Bullshot! Before all that she had been the UK Disco Dance champion.

Suzanne Mizzi left modelling and became an interior designer and artist.

Melanie Appleby left modelling and joined her sister Kim to become a duo Mel & Kim having hits like Showin' Out and Respectable under the auspices of Stock, Aiken and Waterman(as did Samantha Fox) Tragicly Mel died of leukaemia a few years later.

Debbie Linden became an actress appearing in The Professionals, The Bill, Cowboys and Are You Being Served? She was found dead at her flat having somehow got mixed up with a Greek magnate.

Christine Peake really fell on her feet marrying a millionaire but he met a tragic end when his Segue went off the end of a cliff in the USA.

Helen Labdon married US actor Greg Kinnear.

Gillian De Terville, one of a few successful black Page 3 girls became an actress starring in the James Bond film 'Octopussy' She is also seen miming to Heaven 17's Temptation in the video(voiced by Carol Kenyon)
