Surprised Velasquez/dos Santos is getting moved from the UFC 139 PPV to the first ever Fox on 1 show on the 12 of November. I never really thought that fight would be the one. It's a big fight for free TV. Feel sorry for people who have bought UFC 139 PPV tickets, hope there's a worthy replacement main event. When Sky did show the UFC, it was a two hour show and didn't air for long. I think Sky will at some point get the rights to it, in an ideal world all the UFC PPV's would be shown for free or the next best thing would be like the WWE deal when some UFC's would air free and others PPV. RE: UFC - mitchell - 03-09-2011 11:42 Halfway down your post groundnpound I was thinking, 'Here we go', then booom!!!. I read somewhere that the dude who's incharge of selecting what sports are shown on Sky will never be interested in making an offer for the viewing rights to the UFC but this new Stateside deal with Fox looks like it's gonna change things as Sky & Fox are sister stations & share content such as Sky News/Fox News coverage aswell as tv shows on Sky One. It may not affect things untill August next year when the full UK rights will come up for grabs & ESPN will no doubt be back in the hunt but with the problems the UFC has had with the network in the US they may use the refusal of a UK renewal as a fuck you & go with Sky who'll now be advised by Fox to do a deal & will also be in pole position due to the Fox deal anyway. I just can't see 6 to 7 PPV events a year will never sell over here even at £14.95. If Sky do show it free on Sky Sports then it will also make it's way to Sky Sports News & I don't see this happening, Ever!!! For Sky & ESPN to show it free from next year they'll have to shell out a massive amount of money on a long term deal i.e. the Fox deal, the amount they would've payed will be huge & this is why they'll get a few title fights & or no1 contender fights, so we may still get it free but the winning bid will have to be a ground breaker & I just don't see Sky letting us get away without some sort of paying fee, possibly having to pay for the UK cards which will be 3 to 4 a year (They'll find venues) & some of the cards will be Fight Night on Sky Sports cards, but the main UFC events will have to be shown at 2am to fit in with the PPV in the US but this will mean the big worldwide names will be on the cards which would entice people into paying £59.80 to £89.70 a year.... Jury's still out on my side. RE: UFC - groundnpound - 03-09-2011 13:54 ESPN will end up seeing out their deal with the UFC then coverage will move over to Sky for me.Can't see anything else happening lads if Sky and Fox are partners. It's a certainty surely? Worst case scenario is that the events we watch just now on ESPN will all be made PPV on Sky.With The Ultimate Fighter and un numbered events being thrown in for free.If they're priced the same as the Boxing and Wrestling it'll be around £15 an event so £15 a month if u get every event.ESPN is £9 a month with Football and all sorts in there aswell. We'll just have to wait and see. I read last night that Cain vs Junior is the only fight being televised on Fox but a full card will be put on for fans at the event. That'll be weird Any ideas for a main event at UFC 139? RE: UFC - mitchell - 04-09-2011 13:31 After 3 straight losses at middleweight Yoshihiro Akiyama (1-3) has decided to drop down to welterweight for one last shot at the UFC, he's hoping to get a call for the February 26, 2012 card in Saitama, Japan, although any talk of a push for the title maybe a little off with 'Sexyama' saying he'd like to go to the Tristar gym & train with GSP to help him adapt to the welterweight division. Eventhough he's 36 I still think there's some good fights for him at this weight, should be good especially if he gets on the Japan card. RE: UFC - groundnpound - 04-09-2011 22:31 "Skinnyama" RE: UFC - gazfc - 05-09-2011 20:59 RE: UFC - groundnpound - 05-09-2011 23:41 Think Koscheck's took the fight mate. He said on twitter he's just waiting for Hughes to accept. RE: UFC - mitchell - 06-09-2011 17:05 Yeah Josh Koscheck has said if Matt Hughes agrees then the fight's on. The UFC have officially announced their return to Japan for the first time in 14 years with a show on February 26 in Saitama with the UFC's fighters from Japan and surrounding areas making the card & the word is some former Pride superstars may also be there such as Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira & Mirko Cro Cop both possibilities??? RE: UFC - TDK2008 - 07-09-2011 05:00 Hughes/Koscheck is on. Ben Henderson vs. Clay Guida will fight on the UFC on Fox show on the 12th of November. I have to assume the winner gets the next UFC Lightweight Championship match, Edgar/Maynard III takes place 1st of October. Brock Lesnar's return fight will be against new UFC signing Alistair Overeem on the 30th of December. Big fight to close out a stellar 2011 for the UFC. RE: UFC - groundnpound - 07-09-2011 11:10 Yeah great fight set up between those two beasts mate! http://uk.ufc.com/news/overeem-signs-with-the-ufc-faces-lesnar Who wins this fight lads? Brock will stop this guy for me, don't know what round but can see him winning inside the distance!!! As for Dick Diaz another presser no show last night in Toronto for his October Title fight with GSP...Does this lad never learn anything or listen to what anyone tells him?Him and Dana White had a sit down to speak about his part in promoting the fight and he still doesn't show. How daft he's gonna look when GSP grounds and pounds his head into the mat and stops him inside 3 rounds,Come on Georges!!! Rory MacDonald vs. Brian Ebersole @ UFC 140.Another awesome lookin fight on the Horizon! |
