Speaking of British Gas, when they created a cartoon character to publicise their company someone remarked on how similar it looked to the comic actor Kenneth Williams. Later Nicholas Spargo took this idea and created the series 'Willo the Wisp' which featured voices by Kenneth, including Mavis Cruet, a snail called Arthur and a weird daft dog called the Moog! This would be a series of 10min cartoon shorts just before the main news on BBC1.
