RE: Cricket Banter - Boomerangutangangbang - 03-12-2012 10:04 South Afica Win by 309 runs. Australia 322 All Out.Sadly Ricky Ponting couldn't go out on a high &managed only 8. RE: Cricket Banter - Gordon_Bennett - 21-12-2012 17:16 I've been listening to Australia's BBL on R5 Live Sports Extra over the past few mornings. It's interesting to hear what the commentators are saying about the crowds who have turned up. Some of these stadia in Australia hold in excess of 80,000 - and yet these T20 matches are only attracting between 5 and 6 thousand. RE: Cricket Banter - mickster - 22-12-2012 06:14 Could it be they're franchise teams,so the public have no alliegance to them? RE: Cricket Banter - Charlemagne - 23-12-2012 09:27 I see that Sachin Tendulkar has announced his retirement from one day cricket.. A good point - although I wonder how many would turn up for say a NSW v Victoria match? Judging by recent years probably the same number who turned up for these franchised teams. Perhaps these BBL should be played at smaller out-of-city grounds. Playing them at the vast MCG is simply not attracting the crowds. Interesting to see more spectators turned out for a soccer game which, as I understand it, is a minority sport in Oz. RE: Cricket Banter - Boomerangutangangbang - 31-12-2012 09:24 Mike Hussey has announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket next month. This leaves the Australian batting lacking experience ahead of back to back ashes series next year. RE: Cricket Banter - Boomerangutangangbang - 02-01-2013 11:50 New Zealand steamrolled,45 all out in the 1st Test V South Africa.Philander taking the first 5 wickets in a spell of 6-3-7-5.Steyn taking his 300th test wicket. The Kiwis are not a very strong side at the moment. With the parlous state of their game most of the top players will be turning out in the IPL/BBL instead of representing NZ at test level. |
