^ quite right Mr Williams and in test cricket things can swing back quickly although that appears a long way off at the moment. Trott's confidence is blown against genuine quick bowling, he will not get to play against such bowling in the other matches so not sure that will help and personally I don't see him as a No5.

England have been utterly humiliated in the last two days..
The ruthless fashion in which Warner and Clarke went after Swann was devastating and indeed the rest of the bowling got smashed too.
And the batsmen are now 160 for 12.
If England get blown away for just over 100 again it would not surprise me at all.
Many of the weaknesses that were hidden on dead wickets in the past are being ruthlessly exposed in Brisbane.
At the moment England look a mess and Clarke knows it.
From the Aussie point of view the objective is simple.
Skittle England again then win the toss in the second test and bat first.
Bat long and further exhaust a weary 4 man attack and set up a 2-0 lead.
If I were Cook I would be a very, very worried man right now.

We have made Johnson look World Class which he is not you have to dominate him. Lets be clear this batting line up has been limping along for a while now. The coaches have to deal with Trott's fear of short bowling. Its fucking embarassing when you are wearing a helmet!
Pietersen. Everyone banging on about how great he is but fundamentally is a flat track bully and he is no Lara, Tendulkar or Ponting the way we go on about him you would think he was. Just too unreliable and living too much off reputation.
Prior when he stops making runs he becomes surplus to requirements because we certainly have better wicket keepers than him!
The selector who was responsible for Tremlett should be sacked this fucking man is 6'8" and bowls at 82 miles an hour top speed. We have in Steven Finn someone who is even quicker than Johnson we should have gone with four seamers in this hard bouncy pitch and leave Root to do the spinning.
Its a long series and I expect us to get better but let get the basics right!Rant over

It was not a prediction as such. I just mentioned it as a possibility but yes hopefully England will bat better and restore some pride and dignity.

Too early to write England off just yet, they may lose this test but there are four more to come. I have no real problems with Cooks lack of runs as he is a world class player and will come good eventually, Trotts track record is pretty good and he should be given the chance to regain his form, its a bit unfair to describe Peiterson as a flat track bully, he is England,s most destructive player and can change the course of any game game in an hour. Carberry should never have been chosen, he is just not good enough to play test cricket, i have seen him play a few times and his technique is deeply flawed. As for the others Prior should be given a couple more matches before we consider someone else, the bowlers pick themselves, Anderson and Broad are automatic picks with one place up for grabs, Tremlett was chosen because of his previous ashes performance when we were last here, Finn might be a quicker bowler but he leaks far too many runs and if he does not take wickets then he is a major liability to the bowling unit. I really don,t want to see a return to the old days of English cricket when people were constantly being dropped after a few bad games only to be picked again when their replacements failed.

I remember us losing the first Ashes test match in England 2005, but we went on to win the series, and the Ashes.
This time we only need a draw to keep the Ashes, but I am not too hopeful.
Wish it was live on Freeview.
