The blue plaque is a nice touch. 201 weeks was quite an achievement! Hi On the above the guys have been talking, strong feelings that The Hawaii was on Greek Street but one person disputes this and thinks it was somewhere like Peter Street Any views on this please ? I think the whole of Soho is now losing or lost any character. There was quite a lot of location shooting in the West End for that series, including shots of Shaftesbury Avenue and Oxford Street and several clubs and streets in Mayfair. Although the only non-stop striptease club I can remember on Peter Street was the Blue City Club. I guess the question now is whether anyone in the forum's a Randall and Hopkirk fan and knows which episode it was? Even if we had that information though and could also get to see the episode in question, it's not certain that the footage would reveal which street the club was in. RE: Soho sleaze and striptease - andyjb - 12-10-2016 14:36 The episode in question is " Could You Recognise the Man Again? RE: Soho sleaze and striptease - marlowe - 14-10-2016 13:48 Yes a valuable contribution from andyjb. Much thanks for that. In the video there are a couple of shots of Great Windmill Street from the Shaftesbury Avenue end and one of Macclesfield Street inbetween, which is also off Shaftesbury Avenue, as well as a couple of shots of Shaftesbury Avenue itself. I'm thinking a location close to Shaftesbury Avenue is likely, although that still leaves a number of possibilities. Hi Been speaking to the guys and they have been reading the post, the person who originally said Peter Street still thinks the same, while there was only one long term strip place on the street there was lots of comings and goings so he hold his opinion. Of the other guys, all agree it was of Shaftsbury Ave with the consensus at Greek Street. One problem is a google shows very little, one person has put forward a suggestion that it may have been in two locations, being to begin with in say Peter Street, was raided or closed down and then relocated with the signage to another location say Greek Street. My initial reaction was not probable but I am beginning to change my mind. This is what make the post so worthwhile just chasing memories |
