68 apartments have been purchased by the Corporation of London in a tower block in one of the more affluent areas of Kensington and will be offered to those displaced by the Grenfell disaster it is unclear whether the private facilities where the residents will be based will be made available to them

The positioning to try and spin the truth is already well underway I see:

On 18 June former Lib Dem MP Stephen Williams reckons it has nothing to do with him: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/grenfell-tower-former-housing-minister-stephen-williams-criticises-conservatives-tories-safety-a7795781.html

On the 19th leaks forming part of next week's BBC documentary on Grenfell reveal a somewhat different story: http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/grenfell-tower-ministers-were-warned-of-a-tower-block-tragedy-if-no-sprinklers-fitted-a3568526.html

Words fail me.

Don't worry, folks, Simon Cowell's knocked off a charity single so everything will be just dandy now. Not sure Bridge Over Troubled Water is that clever a choice, given 2 recent bridge incidents which didn't merit a single. I mean, it's not like I expected them to do Sex On Fire, but still, it does seem like a slack choice.

I think we'll see lots of people seeking to deflect any responsibility over the coming weeks & months. The Leader of Camden Council was doing that today blaming a contractor but couldn't answer when asked why the Councils building control inspectors had not spotted "the wrong cladding" being used on a refurbishment 3 years ago. This crosses political parties, safety bodies, contractors etc etc

the press totally got this wrong the block isnt 2.5 milliion to 10 million appartments its the one next door that the developers had already earmarked for affordable housing the council has bought 68 flats from the developer at cost price and the flats will be ready in July
