There's such a thing as giving up. This thread is page after page of how bad it is, over several series. If i liked something and it deterioated to the point I felt the need to come to a forum saying how bad it is, I simply wouldn't watch it any more, seems the logical solution. As for saying the show isn't great, thats just a personal view point, many others would disagree. As some one once said, if you can't say anything good, don't say anything at all. There's honest opnion and then their biased opnion. [/quote] But you feel the need to come to a forum and pull everyone up simply for saying they don't like something. If you don't agree with the comments that's fine, but would you not find it easier to just ignore comments which you find bad? How about trying that - ignore negative comments and post your own assessment of the show instead of worrying what everyone else is saying. I've not been biased in any opinion - I'm not being critical for the sake of it, I'm calling it how I'm finding it at the moment. Remember at the start of my original post I said I had mixed feelings - that's not all bad is it? Not really everybody is it? there's only you and Doddle that have a massive problem with other people (re me) who like it defending it, both of whom having doctor related avatars and pics; therefore you are the last word on the doctor. You need to stop boo hooing a bit when somebody challanges YOUR view point. Like I say, may first doctor was John pertwee, was lucky enough to see ALL of Tom Baker's doctor as a child, I refused to watch Davison on the principle it was Davison, and didn't watch it again till Chris Eccleston, may be it got spectacular in all aspects between those doctors, I couldn't say. I think what might be your problem, back in my younger years the doctor had a series and that had a story arch over that series, or at least i remember it being like that. Doctor these days tends to have links and threads running over several series and references and nods to whovian mythology all over the place but with story of the week or two weeks (makes it a bit difficult to follow, especially if your only a casual viewer, that is, you watch it but don't get into all the details) . May be it's the structure that you have a problem with, may be you over think it. Myself, I watch each episode has it comes along and don't think about anything else, it's just that one episode, though episodes vary in quality (always have), doing it that way you'll find it's a lot better television than you seem to think it is, certinaly one of the better tv programs on tv and deffinately one of the best on saturday evening. Everything was has it was every time. And the sole of his heal I my have mentioned that and this trigered someone going on about that would only compress the atoms and the firsts would be far batter; so I said he's be better off rubbing it or licking it RE: Dr Who - Regenerated - 03-12-2015 15:25 (03-12-2015 08:30 )Doddle Wrote:(03-12-2015 00:27 )wackawoo Wrote:Conceivably, the spade didn't get regenerated thousands of times - but he might have used the sole of his shoe.(02-12-2015 22:35 )ShandyHand Wrote: ^ Thought people were being quite objective on here actually.Yes I'll give you that, I mearly asked why the doctor didn't use the spade to get through the diamond stuff - that was a mistake Doddle I'm afraid I have no idea what you're referring to. RE: Dr Who - Doddle - 03-12-2015 21:45 You aren't the first, you won't be the last In this week's episode, he punches a path through abzantium with his fist, which regenerates (as he does) thousands of times - our good friend the wackster thought he should have used the spade (with which he dug into the grave earlier), but as that didn't keep regenerating, I thought the sole of his shoe would provide a harder impact than his fist, and thus take less time. RE: Dr Who - wackawoo - 03-12-2015 22:16 Quote:but as that didn't keep regenerating Au contraire. the whole point of the episode was that he was traped in a time loop, within his will disc thing. EVERYTHING was identical and played out the same way every time, except the end bit, the only things that change to the doctor was the amount of time he had been there and the amount of the diamond stuff. You see him putting on dry clothes which he had left in front of the fire from the previous time. Is there only me that pays attention, no wonder you get it wrong. RE: Dr Who - Regenerated - 04-12-2015 00:05 OK, I see. Spoilers then. I have to concede I do miss the earlier eras when there was a cliffhanger at the end of pretty much each episode. In fairness they've tried to bring that back to a certain degree with a number of this current season's stories having a "to be continued" moment. As I said I enjoyed the Davros / Daleks story. It was moving seeing a "dying" Davros - only for the reveal to confirm him as deliciously evil as ever. The Vikings one was good too. I've seen them all on the iplayer up to Zygon Invasion except the Woman Who Lived. The girl Ashildr, what was the actress in before? Was it Game of Thrones? For previous eras my first doctor was the latter half of Tom Baker's run and I then saw all of Peter Davison's up to the present. Davison is actually my favourite doctor with David Tennant second. I just haven't enjoyed it as much since Matt Smith and now Peter Capaldi, but I still like the concept of the show, its just some of the stories have been a little weak for me. I'm in the process of purchasing all of Jon Pertwee's and Tom Baker's Who dvds right now. For continuity purposes its my goal to own as many as possible. RE: Dr Who - The Silent Majority - 04-12-2015 01:34 I've been avoiding this thread as I got a bit behind with the episodes, got caught up last night though Overall I've been enjoying this series more than previous ones. Sure there's been some dodgy bits, recycled storylines etc, but alot of it's been very good. Coming up to date, I thought Saturdays episode was genuinely creepy (it's been a while since you could say that about the show) and it kept me guessing right to the end. I just hope the finale isn't a damp squib after the big build up. I'm going to take a punt here and say Clara might not really be dead. I thought The Doctor accepted her fate far to easily. Maybe he just wanted her safely out of the way before the big showdown. Or I could be talking out my arse |
