I suspect Marcus Rashford will run away with the SPOTY award this year and rightly so.

Big incident on lap 1 in Bahrain.
Roman Grosjean crash as car bursts into flames. Thankfully he seems to be ok and has emerged out of the car.

The car was literally ripped in two eek.

That's going to cause a lot of awkward questions to be asked. I can't remember the last time I saw a single seater punch through a barrier like that.

Medical car crew and the first few Fire Marshalls on scene deserve fucking huge medals for that.

This shows just how incredibly safe Formula 1 is these days, if that was in the 60’s or the 70’s. Grosjean would be dead.

The film Rush about the rivalry between James Hunt & Nikki Lauda is well worth a watch as it shows just how dangerous F1 was back then.

In all my many years watching F1 I’ve never seen a crash like this and never seen a car split in 2. Well done to all the medical personnel & marshalls for getting to the scene so quickly & helping grosjean get to safety.

If you're not familiar with it, Google what happened to Tom Pryce at Kyalami in 1977 (warning- the video footage is extremely disturbing) when a Marshal ran across the Track carrying a Fire Extinguisher. Both he and the Marshal died and we came way too close to a repeat of it today when a Marshal crossed the track in front of Lando Norris.

F1 is getting a bit too complacent for my liking. They dodged a couple of bullets today.

The cars are equipped to provide real time telemetry so that, testimonies, and the photographic record will help determine the nature of the accident and why the results of it were so dramatic.
Kinectic forces must've been increased as the car weighs more at the start of the race.
