Wouldn't be too disappointed to see Capaldi move on as well, and maybe they could limp along the next series without a 'companion', so the new guy can start the whole thing afresh. RE: Dr Who - M-L-L - 23-01-2016 14:27 If nothing's being aired until Christmas and then spring 2017 maybe that will give them more time to get some scripts together. Or maybe it will just give them more time to make the scripts even more over-elaborately self-indulgent. RE: Dr Who - wackawoo - 23-01-2016 15:03 Terrible news, having just watched the first eccleston season again i hope it's not back to that clap trap again. Don't give it much longer now. RE: Dr Who - M-L-L - 23-01-2016 15:13 A lot of television doesn't date well and Dr Who is no exception ? The things that grated with me in the "New Who" are also quite often similar to things that date badly in "Classic Who". When 1960's / 1970's who tried to be "hip and trendy and swinging" - that looks bad now. When Patrick Troughton makes a meal out of simple children's parlour games and references to Victorian children's stories in the "Mind Robber" that looks bad. (But not quite as bad as when they try to imagine comic strip characters from the year 2000 and come up with the "Karkass".). Similarly, my heart sank fairly early on in the Eccleston reign at - "Tainted Love" and "Toxic" being played on the soundtrack during "The End of The World". Farting aliens. Really unsubtle parodies of "The Weakest Link" and "Big Brother" - please God don't tell me that thousands of years in the future people will still be watching recognisable versions of this shite ? They would have at least updated the theme music and style of interior décor of the studio sets - or is that the inevitable ultimate outcome of neutering public service television in our own time ? And you can't even ignore the episode and pretend it doesn't exist, because it's a first part of a two part season finale. RE: Dr Who - ShandyHand - 24-01-2016 13:03 ^ One season of Capaldi under Chimball for me. Capaldi will have some time off to recharge and do other things with this new decreased schedule. I think they'll feel that a new doctor as well for 2018 might be too much of a transition for them and the audience. RE: Dr Who - Rammyrascal - 22-04-2016 09:48 New Dr Who companion to be revealed tomorrow (23rd April) live on bbc1 at half time of the Everton v Man Utd FA Cup semifinal https://uk.celebrity.yahoo.com/post/143170611964/new-doctor-who-companion-to-be-revealed-on-match Be around 6pm the reveal as kick off is at 5:15 pm. My guess Maisie Williams from game of thrones RE: Dr Who - ShandyHand - 22-04-2016 10:31 ^ Unlikely: http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/doctor-who/news/a784911/doctor-who-series-10-maisie-williams-rules-out-a-return-for-ashildr/ Far more likely: http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2016-02-29/could-ex-eastender-rakhee-thakrar-join-doctor-who-as-the-new-companion http://www.cultbox.co.uk/news/headlines/rakhee-thakrar-says-see-what-happens-to-doctor-who-companion-rumours RE: Dr Who - Doddle - 22-04-2016 12:35 It had better be unlikely! Good to see they've picked a slow news week for a story like this... not to mention picking such a colossally stupid way to announce it. But presumably it means filming starts next week, otherwise why bother? RE: Dr Who - ShandyHand - 22-04-2016 14:22 ^ Filming for this year's Christmas special has been planned as beginning in May for quite a while: http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2016-02-08/doctor-who-series-10-to-start-filming-in-may---but-new-companion-is-yet-to-audition Shooting on series 10 is marked for July: http://www.movienewsguide.com/doctor-season-10-start-production-july-doctor-yet-find-new-companion/155589 |
