A Member of Parliament, some "bad people" and misused campaign funds. Once upon a time it would have been the basis of an average novel... Big Laugh

And while we're on the subject of Mark Menzies, he has an interesting past.

Murrell has resigned his membership of The SNP, yeah that will help the party, all smooth now

In relation to Mark Menzies, British political scandals are just so vanilla these days, at least when Jeremy Thorpe was in hot water over an affair he had the decency to make things interesting and tried to have the boy assassinated

Two men have been charged over the felling of the famous Sycamore Gap tree in Northumberland last September

RE: General News Thread - Charlemagne - 15-05-2024 16:15

The two men charged with felling the Sycamore Gap tree have appeared in Newcastle Magistrates Court today.
They pleaded not gulity. The tree is valued at £622,191 by the National Trust, but the judge recommends that “the case is too serious to be heard in magistrates court”. It’s going to Crown Court.

Aparently the biggest sentence that can be given is 10 years. (And nothing that involves the use of a tree).

The two would get less time if they committed murder.Worth considering next time you get the chainsaw out, kill someone or chop a tree down.

RE: General News Thread - Boomerangutangangbang - 15-05-2024 18:43

The longer the sentence the better, a tree is a living thing which they killed. I'm a tree hugger, I prefer trees to people.Wink
