RE: UFC - TDK2008 - 09-10-2011 11:14 UFC 136 SPOILERS WILL FOLLOW. YOU'VE HAD WARNING!!! Great show. Frankie Edgar is superb at overcoming adversity doing that two fights running but this time it ended with a winner, Edgar stopping Gray Maynard in style. Maynard won't be getting a UFC Lightweight title shot any time soon. Edgar's had a fine year on top of the deepest UFC weight division. Aldo/Florian was disappointing, his performances don't compare as well to other ex WEC fighters who are now in the UFC when WEC closed. Dominick Cruz and Ben Henderson have done better. Chael Sonnen looked terrific in his fight winning by sub of all things. Silva/Sonnen II has to be next, that fight poses so many questions namely can Sonnen replicate his performance pre getting trapped in a Triangle Armbar or will we get THE Anderson Silva we all know? Phan/Garcia II was probably my Fight of the Night. Glad Phan got the win he should have got the first time around. I've never liked Melvin Guillard so I liked that he lost to Joe Lauzon. Guillard did a Jim Miller. Surely Ben Henderson/Clay Guida gets the next UFC Lightweight Championship shot. I'm hoping Henderson wins. UFC 132 is probably my Card of the Year with this show and UFC 129 fighting it out for second and third spots. RE: UFC - mitchell - 09-10-2011 13:42 I didn't get in till 03:00'ish so missed the first hour, I'll check out Lauzon v Guillard as I thought this would be a good fight. I switched on halfway into the second round of Sonnen v Stann, it looked for the 2-3 minutes that was left like Sonnen dominated with his wrestling, what was that shit at the end. "Anderson if I win you leave the division & if you win I leave the UFC"...... Errr either way Silva will be a UFC fighter but Sonnen's might not??? For all the brains he's got I think he needs to rethink that one. Jose Aldo V Kenny Florian wasn't a great fight more of a full on sparring session, the champion always wins in these cases. I was barely awake for Frankie Edgar v Gray Maynard past the first round but hats off to Edgar for staying in it as most other fighters would've been KO'd in that situation, thats the sort of spirit you can't teach. I can't remember the rest of the fight but if it's like the two BJ fights then I'm guessing it went with Edgar bouncing around & peppering Maynard with the jab untill the surprise (For me at least) KO. I wasn't around yeaterday but if I did throw out any predictions then I would've got Chael Sonnen & Jose Aldo correct. RE: UFC - HEX!T - 09-10-2011 14:07 edgar showed true heart, when he went down i thought it was over. but he got up and just went to work. he put on a great display of stand up for the next 3 rounds and went for the finish... i was stunned. all i could do was applaud the guy, for his heart and the win... little nam put on a good fight also. i dont think either of em will be a champ 1 day but it was 1 of the most entertaining fights of the night. I'm with you, I was amased when he came back and survived the 2nd fight but to do it again....just amazing heart, phan Garcia fight of the night again for me. Sonnen fight was a total bore for me but what he came out with at the end, wtf? He's not in wwe. RE: UFC - groundnpound - 11-10-2011 00:12 Edgar's one of the toughest lads i've ever seen!!A brilliant champion. Was made up when he stopped Maynard.Dana White wants him to move down to featherweight now and fight Jose Aldo. Aldo picked Florian apart pretty well like most expected,we've seen him a lot better than that though.I thought he would've stopped Kenny at some point? When he was firing him with shots in the 1st round i thought he would finish him no probs when he started using his low kicks to set up his punches in the 3rd i thought he would finish it but it turned into a routine points win for him in the end.Any doubts people had about his stamina must be gone after this fight. Gazfc made the shout earlier and it was the first thing i thought when he did it.YOUR NOT IN WWE SONNEN YOU BEAUT OF A LAD! He's brilliant at his job in the octagon and he totally dominated Stann from the start with his wrestling but he's a few fries short of a happy meal.Would love Silva to finish this guy in 1 round. Garcia vs. Phan fight of the night.Love watvhing Garcia fight!! His record's win lose win lose win lose lol he's so entertaining to watch can't see that lad ever getting cut from the UFC.Phan's turning into a bit of an epic fight specialist aswell, his last 3 fights have been quality! Guillard completly under estimated Joe Lauzon for me.He bounced into the ring looking to showcase his skills to his home fans and flew straight into Lauzon. He was guaranteed a title shot if he won don't forget and just had a rush of blood it looked like and got tagged, took down and choked out.Great win for Lauzon, boss sub! Thought the show lived up to it's billing as one of the best cards of the year so far, enjoyed it. Stayin out til 3ish on a UFC night Mitchell When u of all people know the action starts at 2! I logged in to read the the legendary Mitchell preview post and could i find it? Could i bollocks!Nowhere to be seen lad... Disappointed. What happened to this guy??? lol Leave your belt at the entrance to the cage RE: UFC - gazfc - 11-10-2011 04:22 What a month we've had for MMA, it'll be strange this Sunday not having anything to watch, it's been a godsend having free espn RE: UFC - 199lives - 11-10-2011 20:56 good card, only question what happened to Maynard after the first round, dominating then landed nothing before getting stopped which no one was predictiing. Read today Ross Pearson if having a trail run to see how easy a cut to feather weight would be. could be good for him he'd be a big featherweight iinstead of an average lightweight. gnp, do you mean frankie dropping down to featherwight or Aldo moving up too lightweight RE: UFC - groundnpound - 11-10-2011 21:08 Sorry mate i fixed that, meant Edgar moving down to featherweight.White wants him to move down and fight Aldo. No need to. Edgar is right now on top of the toughest division in the UFC and has challengers to come. It isn't time yet. Friday marks five years of Anderson Silva as undefeated UFC Middleweight Champion. What a run Silva has had during that time and the records he’s broken in the process. |
