"Let's take Matt Lucas on a freebie to New York!"

And 'Doctor Mysterio' is blatantly a nicked idea!

The Power of the Daleks download thing is tomorrow, the 50th anniversary of its broadcast (and also the 50th anniversary of Patrick Troughton as the Doctor, obviously).

A B&W DVD will follow.

Then after Christmas, a Blu-ray release with both the B&W version, and a Colour one, for those who want such things.

Got my Power of Daleks DVD delivered late on today - day early, wasn't expecting it until tomorrow at earliest; just about to watch it now.

Has quite a detailed looking little booklet (16 pages) with notes on the "Making of"; I think this is in lieu of the subtitled notes they sometimes have.

The trail for the Xmas episode looks dreadful, so here's some nerdy old thing instead:

Surprised

I picked up the black and white animation, created in perfect synchronization with the original audio, Power Of The Daleks DVD today. A great Patrick Troughton story from the late 1960s. Very nice packaging for the 50th anniversary with two discs, one containing plenty of special features including photo galleries, "making of" documentary, and audio commentaries.

It's great that the BBC retained the audio of these classic missing episodes. A lot of the original tapes of William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton were scrapped as part of the BBC's junking policies of the decade. I have to say they have done a fantastic job of restoring these stories so we can at least enjoy them in some format. It therefore should still be possible for me to achieve my goal of eventually owning every Doctor Who story.
