RE: The World Cup count down come on England! - aaron - 24-06-2010 10:06 These are the players in the England squad who have taken penalties this season for their clubs: Jermain Defoe 1/3 Steven Gerrard 3/3 Frank Lampard 10/12 James Milner 6/9 Wayne Rooney 7/7 Leighton Baines 1/1 Michael Carrick 0/1 RE: The World Cup count down come on England! - 7 stars of the orient - 24-06-2010 11:43 Very good aaron, except for Leighton Baines who didn't make the squad of 23 in the end. Gareth Barry should get a mention too, as although he didn't take any penalties for Man City last season he scored 9/10 when he was playing for Aston Villa the season before. So, I think, it is safe to assume that they will pick the England v Germany game first. Yes correct, it's on BBC1 (kick off 3:00 Saturday) RE: The World Cup count down come on England! - hitmeuptop - 24-06-2010 13:21 if you tune in to the bbc at 3:00 on saturday you'll be watching wimbledon not football mate, try sunday at 3:00 RE: The World Cup count down come on England! - William H Bonney - 25-06-2010 08:04 The media are reporting that the nominated penalty takers are Lampard, Gerrard, Rooney, Milner and Barry (in that order). RE: The World Cup count down, come on England! - 654321 - 25-06-2010 12:26 The media are never wrong, so i'd go wit that lol. I think it will literally be those who are up for it and feel confident enough. Who knows if Rooney and Milner, if in the event it does goes to penalties, will still even be on the pitch? Personally i don't think it'll go that far. I fear that Germany will beat us. Our midfield just isn't balanced enough to go toe-to-toe with a decent midfield, and i worry about the defense, particular the right hand side. Our saving grace may be that these german strikers do need a few chances before they tuck one away along with the fact they do give you a chance. Question is should we revert back to Heskey for this game? Or stick with Defoe? Heskey could be really useful in a game like this. The price we pay for finishing second in our group. Had we finished top, we would have had a much easier route to the semis. If we win this thing, we now have to do it the hard way RE: The World Cup count down, come on England! - cosmonaut - 26-06-2010 07:49 (25-06-2010 12:26 )654321 Wrote: I think it will literally be those who are up for it and feel confident enough. You misunderstand Capello's methods and his attention to detail. Capello wants it all sorted out before the game even starts. Anyone not on the pich will simply be replaced by the next in line.
