totally gutted italy are out, im half Italian, as soon as it went to pens i knew italy would lose, spain are too cool under pressure and better at pens, italy played well and had some good chances but its the same old story they can't finish, they never seem to have proper attacking players they are always just efficient or hard working, towards the end of the game italy looked dead on their feet, so all that hard work was for nothing, ah well

Well done for owning up. Because although you said Balotelli's absence was irrelevant, I think him playing for Italy might have given them the win, as the only thing they lacked really was putting the ball in the net.

agree this has usually's been italy's problem really they don't have an out and out goalscorer, they seem to do well with sheer team spirit, work ethic and efficiency even when they won the world cup in 2006 it was down to workrate and team spirit, rather than attacking quality, and thats why i said with ballotelli injured it could cost them esp against a side like spain as work rate alone won't be enough, they needed that bit of quality up top

ballotelli might just be the man to score lots of goals for italy in the future though
