I haven't received it either. The last thing I heard was to expect the big update on 12 November. Unless I received it without knowing??

Another thing - on my previously windows 8 computer I used to get reminders to upgrade to windows 10 all the time, which I eventually did. But on my other computer which is windows 7 I've never been offered windows 10 even once.

Many thanks for the advice HEXIT.

I'll be sticking with Windows 7 as you advise. I was concerned that I'd come down one morning and find MS had upgraded my laptop without asking, so I'll get rid of the "nagware" as you suggest.

did it go smoothly?
yes! for the most part. my only gripe was the time it took to do the upgrade. over 5 hours.

as for sticking or moving. i would stay with 7 if you dont need the upgrade and remove the nagware that microsoft keep adding to there updates.
to remove the constant reminder to upgrade. open your installed updates and remove

KB3035583.
KB3021917
KB3022345

you also need to disable two tasks in Task Scheduler.

There are two tasks under TaskScheduler > Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Windows > Application Experience, "Microsoft Compatibility Appraiser" and "ProgramDataUpdater", that will continue to contact telemetry servers even if telemetry is disabled. These tasks run and phone home even if CEIP is opted-out of.

Upodated my win 10 this morning, didn't look like much has changed but there are some new features the one thing that I do like already is the new paint 3D the fill works better than the old one did!! I don'rt know if there are any subtle changes to word or excel that come with this update I did, but haven't noticed any yet so let me know guys if you notice anything new with those so I can check them out

The defender security centre and the trouble shoot is better,

BUT and it's a yay big bastard but,

they have removed display from the control panel and wereas you can change the over all size of the display to 100. 1250, 150% etc you can no longer change the font size of menus. It use to be under change size of text and a drop down box with the default being 9.

For people of a certain age or there pc's a little aways from them or visially impaired this is an applaing decision.

Looked every where and cannot find it.

I've had 2 notification of the update but haven't clicked it yet, I'm going to do it tonight.

I do have a number of sticky notes open, am I right in saying they will remain after the update or will it wipe them. Pretty sure I have had them prior to the last update so they should remain, just wanted to make sure, thanks.

RE: Free Windows 10 Upgrade - HEX!T - 18-04-2017 14:42

they should remain as its only an update not a fresh install.
