Totally disagree. VAR ruins the game. Takes away the most enjoyable part of the game which is scoring a goal.

No, it was offside. It was obviously correct to rule it out. It's here now and it makes sure the decisions are correct. You're going to have to get used to it, we all are.

Doesn’t mean I have to like it though.

Of course you don't. I didn't say that at any stage.

It slows down a sport that is played at a fantastic speed.

RE: 2019 Women’s World Cup - Regenerated - 02-07-2019 22:36

Playing at speed is no good if it's a bad decision. IMO something had to be done to correct the number of mistakes by referees.

We're obviously not going to agree, we've both made that clear. You don't have to like it, but nontheless it's here to stay. I feel it's the right thing.

That’s the joy of football. The high paced game played without natural breaks like cricket. 5 minutes to decide whether it’s a penalty and another 5 minutes to decide if the keeper is 1mm off the line isn’t good for the game.

But score the penalty and the offside goal doesn't matter. VAR gave us the penalty. That was the chance and they fluffed it. There's got to be better suited players to take a penalty than a defender. Missed chances cost us.

My point about VAR is a general one, not related to tonight’s game. My other biggest bugbear in football is strikers not taking penalties!

I know that, my point about VAR is equally generic.
