The trip to Paris by King Charles has been postponed. There's a large number of violent protests happening in all the major cities of France and is not the time to put him at risk.

Paris hasn't previously proved to be a safe place for Kings or even Princesses.

Approx £250 million to be spent on the coronation. annoyed
That's a whole lot of money to be spent on putting a hat on someone's head.

^ I’d guess that will be dwarfed by the income generated for hotels, restaurants and companies selling Coronation related goods

I agree, but it is something you don't often see, I'm no Royalist, but I'm happy to watch Royal events, so I'm intrigued by the coronation.
Plus it's an excuse to have a buffet/picnic and do fuck all. I do reckon the spectacle will generate enough to break even at least.

I saw a Stoke based pottery makers saying they had made 150,000 pieces to celebrate the Coronation and some of them cost thousands. A biscuit manufacturer said it was like a 2nd Xmas for them

The cost has been covered by the sale of the worldwide TV rights. In addition the benefit to the economy is generally estimated to be about £1 billion.

everyone goes on about the money but if there was no coronation would the money have actually gone to the poor or Needy would it Fuck !!

and those wanting none be fearful of what or who replaces it would we want a President Boris cos that would happen !! you know the british public can not be trusted to make proper decisions Tongue Tongue

imagine president boris selling off all the shit to his croney mates and then prob wanting double and triple what the royals get on the civil list

Slightly off topic but I am currently watching Lucy Worsley's Royal history's biggest fibs on iplayer

Really quite interesting just finished the 3rd & final ep of the 1st season. The epsiodes look at Henry VIII & The Reformation as England's first Brexit, Elizabeth I defeat of The Spanish Armada & Queen Anne & how she is remembered as a weak Queen despite massive achievements
