Just a quick reflection on the Mark Allen v John Higgins match.

Frame 24 was absolutely unbelievable.
Not often I agree with Stephen Hendry but the safety play was possibly some of the best I have ever seen. Proper world class connoisseur snooker.

Credit to Higgins, he needed to get it done, and he managed it.

Lisowski stole the 19th, but then funked a chance to steal the 20th, at which point it seemed over. But he levelled and then seemed all set to take a 12-11 lead. Bingham prevailed, though. Luck of the draw. Pfft.

Gilbert took a 4-0 lead this morning against Maguire, but the Scottish Beetroot rallied a bit... to only trail 7-1 by the end of the session.

Looking more and more likely that David Gilbert will be getting a TY card from Snooks...

Jak Jones giving Judd Trump a tougher test than some.

RE: World Snooker Championship 2024 - Snooks - 01-05-2024 11:45

Jak Jones has beaten Judd Trump 13-9.
Wow. Sensational victory sealed with a century break.

RE: World Snooker Championship 2024 - Joannis - 01-05-2024 11:57

So Judd goes out with not a bang but a whimper. Judd's had a fantastic season, winning 5 ranking tournaments. But his successes have been interspersed with tournaments where he has struggled to get to grips with the table, and his position has been all over the place. He falls short of taking over Mark Allen as World no.1 and remains provisionally no.2 for now. Over to you Ronnie.

Higgins must be tired after his heroics in the last 16. Kyren currently 9-4 up.

RE: World Snooker Championship 2024 - Doddle - 01-05-2024 12:29

Judd surrendered the penultimate frame rather than try for a couple of snookers. I suspect he knew which way things were going long before then.

Credit to Jak Jones, though, who will presumably get a rankings fillip even if Ronnie (or Bingham) pulps him next.

The grim prospect of a Wilson-Bingham final looking likelier...

dont want to jinx it but a higgins vs Ronnie Final not out of the realms of possibility sad in a way but good that the old timers can still perform year after year

All I care about is that Misery of the universe is out. Thank the Lord. I could not bear it any longer. What a relief Shy.
Get in Dave Big Grin.

I've only just caught this years competition and I'm finding it very unexciting.

I know that they have made potting harder this year, I bet the potting percentages have really dropped, but there have been so many mistakes made.

But the dullest thing on the show is Neil Robertson's monotone commentary. He makes John Virgo sound interesting Cool
