The Spanish federation have responded by sacking Lopetegui as the manager of Spain. And the World Cup starts tomorrow.

It seems that the Spanish FA are annoyed that Lopetegui accepted the Real Madrid job without consulting them first. Still seems a drastic reaction sacking him two days before the tournament begins, especially as he is unbeaten in the twenty games he has been in charge.
