The Xi'an Grand Prix was the 2nd ranking tournament of the season. Craptain Carter won the 1st, the Championship League, beating rising Welsh superstar Jackson Page 3-1 in the final.

Despite his Shanghai Masters not carrying ranking points, Judd Trump did enough by finishing runner up in Xi'an to dethrone Mark Allen as World no.1. Mark Allen can regain the no.1 spot if he does better than Judd in the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters which begins on Friday.

The prize for the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters winner is £500,000, same as the World Championship which means others like Kyren Wilson can eye up taking the World no.1 spot, and Ronnie O'Sullivan may be able to regain it.

Former World no.6 and UK Championship winner Zhao Xintong, who was given the most lenient sentence for the Chinese match fixing scandal, has served his 1 year 8 months ban and is now free to seek professional status via the amateur game; Q School etc.

Bloody hell, time flies. Some others have returned OK from bans, we'll see what happens to him.

Zhao Xintong has joined the Q Tour in his first attempt to regain his tour card. In the 2nd tournament on the Tour in Stockholm, Sweden, he beat Shaun Liu 4-1 in the last 64, making a 147 break in the last frame.

RE: Snooker - Joannis - 07-10-2024 15:26

Zhao Xintong has gone on to win the Stockholm leg of the Q Tour, beating Craig Steadman 4-3 in the final. Zhao picks up the £3,000 1st prize and goes 2nd in the Q Tour rankings behind Andres Petrov, the winner of the 1st leg of the European Tour.

There are 4 more legs in various locations throughout Europe, one per month, with the final leg being held in the UK, in Walsall, from Feb 7-9, 2025.

There are 4 tour cards for the 2025/26 season up for grabs. The player finishing top of the rankings gets a tour card, the players in the next 16 places go through to a play off tournament to attempt to get their hands on one of the other 3.

It's a funny thing, the Q Tour - when they announce who's actually won through it, it sounds a cinch, but then as you detail, the details seem next-to-impossible.
