RE: General News Thread - lovebabes56 - 10-01-2025 05:54 If this was football Management, and she was finance tram manager. the Club owners would be surely looking at management change ![]() ![]() Mind you, I think most of us knew what was likely to happen. RE: General News Thread - southsidestu - 12-01-2025 12:31 Trump's counter terror adviser Sebastian Gorka has suggested the UK take back IS members abroad as it would benefit the special relationship. When asked about taking back Shamima Begum by ITV, Farage responds by saying that he never wanted to but is now "thoughtful", that he "doesn't classify her as an all out Isis killer" and a "lesser part of the equation" and asked if Gorka had a point Farage replied "regrettably yes" RE: General News Thread - lovebabes56 - 14-01-2025 07:03 Taking her back or any Brit IS members would not be in our national interest IMO, they are no longer british to me. Why doesn't the US take her if they are the ones suggesting it? BUt to be honest - brutally honest - She made her choice and she has to live with it. Farage has not spent enough time in Clacton and the TV & radio channels need to stop giving him air time so he can focus on serving the people of Clacton. Would not be surprised if they deselect him at some point for that very reason. Revoking her citizenship may have played well to the crowd, but it's an abdication of responsibility. She was 15 ffs. There's clearly an argument to be made that she was groomed. Whatever she did, or didn't do, once she was over there can only be fully examined if she's brought home and put on trial. RE: General News Thread - The Silent Majority - 14-01-2025 22:53 The government has banned live animals and animal products from Germany after an outbreak of Foot and Mouth there. Is this the government acting quickly and decisively to prevent a repeat of 2001? Is it fuck. The outbreak was first reported last Friday ![]() I was involved with the cull back in 2001. We were kinda hardened to it by the time the Army turned up, but I remember a couple of young squaddies really struggled with it. The 3km sheep cull was right in the middle of lambing season... Never want to see that again. I do accept that revoking her citizenship was an abdication of responsibilty and her age too, but I think there are still many who would feel restoring her citizenship would be seen as an act of weakness by our current Government and would it open the floodgates to other non - British IS members to apply? Those British fighters who joined IS knew the risks they were taking when they joined IS at it's height of activity, and losing British citiizenship was part of it. Even so, there are probably many who will raise the question whether her role within IS may or may not still pose a national security risk. I can imagine now any trial involving her if it happened, is more than likely to be held behind closed doors, with limited reporting, as I am sure the Governement would be keen to have much of it's documentation classsfied very quickly for security reasons. It would be interesting to see what Starmers' official take on it would be.
