RE: Ofcom Discussion - continental19 - 05-06-2012 18:20 I wonder if anyone can shed some more light on this, we no that the babe channels have been branded under the shopping channels, because if I've got this right, they class it as a form of TV advertising? However i was only thinking about this the other day, and i thought to myself, is there any other way the babe channels could be rebranded? and if so, maybe they could get around the Ofcom restrictions to some degree? It's just a thought RE: Ofcom Discussion - dan g 27 - 05-06-2012 19:05 But how exactly could they rebrand it in another way to get around Ofcom rules, so that they can show shows such as the amount of 2 4 1s and naked shows a few years ago? RE: Ofcom Discussion - Scottishbloke - 05-06-2012 19:18 In all my days I've never ever had the feeling as much as I do at present that things will never ever get better and that they will infact get much much worse. Never ever have I felt like as each passing day goes by that our very civil liberties are being taken away from us. David Camerons Government is the darkest period I have ever encountered, even the fact that he shows support for countries such as Pakistan which harbours known terrorists by aiding the country by the figure of an astonishing 650 million pounds funded by us the British taxpayers. It's scandalous and beggers belief. David Cameron is slowly sending this country the same way as communist China with the threat of internet censorship coming ever more closer to becoming reality. He lied to us all on what he would do if he ever came into power by making lucid claims such as we will end this nanny state mentality left by the last government and that he would treats adults as adults and not as kids. David Cameron also claimed before he came to power that if he was ever elected the next goverment that Ofcom as we know it would cease to exist and would not be dictating policy anymore and that their mandate would be cut down to a bare minimum. What a fucking lie that turned out to be. Here is my vision for what to expect in the coming months if the Tories get their wicked way. Internet - First we will have to opt into porn, then eventually that'll be driven out of this country for good. And guess what Ofcom will also in time regulate the internet in the same way that is currently done at the moment with television and radio. All websites that possess a potential threat to the government will be blocked by your ISP suppliers. Even this website could be closed as it speaks up against the government, censorship and Ofcom. Was the recent UK Babe Channels Website crash an earie sign of things to come. We at the moment have serious problems and all this weekend's jubilee celebrations have done is paper over the cracks by sending out a strong message to the rest of the world that all is right in the UK at the moment, many will view it as blantant government propaganda. Right now I just have a feeling that Ofcom and the babe channels could very soon be the least of our worries when at present we stand to lose all of our civil liberties and what effectively has made us British is slowly but surely dying of death. Sorry for the long post but I have to speak up for what I believe in, this country is a shambles right now and it's time I think to even take to the streets by organising some kind of protest against the way this repressive government is treating us the born and bred British for catering far too much to the minorites and easily offended hence the reason we have ofcom and hence the reason the politicians are at present seriously discussing censorship to levels which we previously thought impossible could ever happen in a civilised, open minded democracy such as what our's should allways be. RE: Ofcom Discussion - blackjaques - 05-06-2012 19:40 Totally agree, SB. However I never believed what Cameron said about nanny state, censorship issues etc. In fact I hate all politicians, whether they are Tory, Labour, Lib Dem, SNP, Plaid Cymru, Ulster Unionist. They are all a load of freebooters, bullshitters and sycophants who would sell their own grandmothers if they had the chance to win more votes. We live in a society where our government operates a 3rd World censorship regime on a certain genre of TV programmes. Very odd, very strange. What are they frightened of? RE: Ofcom Discussion - dan g 27 - 05-06-2012 19:41 ScottishBloke if you ever get involved in politics, I'm sure you would make a great politician. Utterly crazy your nation giving aid to Pakistan, they are not trustworthy and even jailed the person who told where Bin Laden was for treason. I hope the internet doesn't become censored by Ofcom, I'm not sure if it would happen, because internet giants such as Google would not like to see it happen. It does feel like in Western society that we have less and less rights or liberties, as the days go by. I blame the big parties in every country, because they have utter contempt for the common man and I suggest not voting for them in future elections. Thats what I will be doing in Ireland and will be voting for the small parties, because you can't trust the big parties anymore and if you continue voting for them, they will continue to walk all over you like a door mat and continue to take away slowly your rights or liberties. Wow I beginning to sound like ScottishBloke by not using paragraphs RE: Ofcom Discussion - continental19 - 05-06-2012 20:20 Well the way this country of ours is going, we won't be that different to some Dictator regimes who still exist in this world. I completely agree with SB, our politicians promise a lot when they want to get into power, and then when they get there feet under the Downing street table all what they promised goes out of the window All of our parties our a waste of time and effort they promise much and deliver F**K all, i tend to think that Ofcom would be right at home regulating the content in North Korea Whether this would do any good or not, but SB had a point about doing a march I'm assuming through london with Anti Ofcom posters, and Anti nanny state banners, at least it would get the Media involved and possible TV coverage remember " POWER TO THE PEOPLE " RE: Ofcom Discussion - dan g 27 - 05-06-2012 20:27 (05-06-2012 20:20 )continental19 Wrote: Well the way this country of ours is going, we won't be that different to some Dictator regimes who still exist in this world. The UK is a democracy, it is a free society, freedom to choose what we do and watch within our own country. If you ask me ever since we allowed asylum seekers for example the right to stay in our country they have tried to impose their will and religious views onto our very British culture and proud traditions which our fore fathers fought and died for to protect against invasion. My opinion is you don't bite the hand that feeds you. You accept our way of life or leave, simple as that. I'm not a racist or a bigot, I am simply making the point that I would not dare to go across to their country and impose my will and British mentality on them so neither should they procede to do so likewise here. Like I said the reason we have censorship to the levels we do now is partly down to the ethnic minorities showing offence to it and ofcom pander down their every whim each time. Take the Lockerbie bomber for example. Guilty as sin yet it is believed we treated him like royalty under the so called human rights which he showed none of and what did he recieve, oh yes al jazeera tv. Do you see how wrong this is. Getting back on track here, this is in my opinion the 3 main reasons we have censorship and ofcom in this country. 1 - Not to offend the ethnic minorities 2 - Not to offend the Feminsts (ie mumsnet) 3 - Not to offend the Extreme religious groups The majority of the UK is not in this bracket, repression and censorship are words that should never ever be part of the British way of life or culture RE: Ofcom Discussion - *Kal-El* - 06-06-2012 07:21 Not sure i agree with view that ethnic minorities showing offence to certain things and then ofcom bowing down before it, its actually the pc brigade who seem to think they know what is or isn't offence like not being able say the word black board and things like that. Most ethnic minorities when it comes to stuff like that don't give a toss its only when someones colour is then used in personal hatred where it becomes a issue. |
