This isn't going to help the debate at all but I have to get it out of my system somewhere.
A short while ago I was watching the drama Enid on BBC4 as there was nothing else that took my eye. It was followed by something called The Thick of It, which I'd never heard of but was apparently repeated from BBC2.
The word 'f*ck' appeared in virtually every sentence spoken, often several times, and more than once was accompanied by 'c*nt'. This appeared to be intended as a comedy show and despite the preceding short 'strong language' verbal warning few viewers unfamiliar with the show would expect anything like that, so the potential for offence was enormous. Yet this is evidently considered by Ofcom to be perfectly ok for mainstream tv.
AND THEY WANT TO BAN THE BABE CHANNELS FROM FREEVIEW!?!?!?!?!?

Ah, but that's satire, and anyone who is offended by it is obviously thick. Also it cruelly satirised the current Government, so any attempt to fine it would be political control.
Now there's a thought. One of the chunkier babes could dress up as Gordon Brown, a skinny one could dress as a domatrix called Mandy, and they could arse fuck Cameron while she shouts "Show me your mandate".

vila, the BBC is regulated by the BBC Trust. The BBC don't need an Ofcom license because of the Royal Charter - Ofcom (the licensed broadcasting regulator) have no power over the BBC.
'The Thick Of It' is quite well-known (its in its 2nd or 3rd series) and it takes the piss out of spin doctors like Alistair Campbell (which can only be a good thing in my book).
Didn't 'Mandy' get accused of calling the $un bosses 'c u n t s'...err...I mean 'chumps' when they switched to the Tories?

Mr Campbell was quite renowned for his fruity language when trying to make psycho Bliar look good, or bully the press into telling the version of the tale New Labour wanted the people to believe.
Apparently, dear Alistair hates 'The Thick Of It' - too close to the truth for his liking I suspect.
